Reviews

ckkennedy This (brief) series was brilliant--writing, casting, characters, ambiance. Totally off-center and smart. One might even say twisted, but hysterically funny in the mode of Deadpool. But as usual, the greedy soulless bastards at Fox will only allow an occasional non-mainstream offering. I will never look at Rainn Wilson in the same way again. Looking for a DVD, hope there is one somewhere.
rmtf I really struggle to find things that capture my imagination and I don't have much free time to watch. I picked up on this last week and have watched all of it in a week. I really enjoyed it and am sad that the network didn't see it as a viable programme to move forward with. There is so much drivel available to watch. Certainly a mistake was made here.
ccopp-20392 As of writing Jan 2017 I binge watched the whole 1st season on Netflix UK *before* I found out it was already cancelled, which is a great pity. It was getting into its' 'stride' and the characters were becoming fixed, the story lines were quirky and the acting was on the whole par excellence. I enjoyed the premise of the grumpy cop with his unusual sidekicks. The character played by Dennis Haysbert has some particularly barbed asides that were blink and you missed them funny. Pity the studio gave up on it so soon, there are sooo many shows dragging on interminably into there double digit seasons way after they lost their mojo....Bones and NCIS to name but 2
cassidyorme If it wasn't for Rainn Wilson i wouldn't even have gave this show a chance, and although I love him he can't save the bad writing.. it seems like everyone has a love hate relationship with Backstrom and it feels like I'm supposed to believe he has a chip on his shoulder.. but why.. the story, the writing never gives me a reason to believe that anyone should really dislike him, or justify me thinking he has a chip on his shoulder look even in their poster picture it says brilliant detective total dick.. when?? when has he been brilliant, and when has he been a total dick.. hahaha do these writers not know what a total dick is because compared to the dicks i know Backstrom is a gentlemen..if you're going to write a character then do it.. don't half-a$$ it. everyone compares this show to house.. but house gave you a reason every episode to like and dislike him.. Backstrom is neutral.. always. He's not really that rude, not really that misogynistic, not really as dirty as they make him out to be, or as drunk, and he isn't really that brilliant.. he uses a catchy little.. "Im you" saying but he usually does that four or five times an episode before he catches someone and he gathers most of the information from what his team says, he's not coming to any huge conclusions on his own.. nothing that i can't piece together as his team says updates me on the situation.. and I'm not a brilliant detective.. any cop can guess wrong a bunch of times. What makes him brilliant?i will say out of aaaaallllllllllllllll the cop shows i hate.. i hate this one the least.. why are people so interested in stupid cop shows
