This was a fantastic show. The premise should be rated a TEN in the difficulty area were TV script writing judged like Diving or Gymnastics. When they say a show "makes you think" this is the type of show they mean. Would be writers wonder "How could I keep these two scripts moving ahead in parallel week after week without stepping all over one another." Imagine how a TEAM of writers must struggle to coordinate with each other and nobody writes TV scripts alone in a garret like a lonely novelist in the 1800's. Read a good explication of all the shots and sound tracks needed to make a simple walk along conversation between two characters work fluidly without either the conversational thread getting lost or the viewer getting sea sick from all the viewpoints. Then consider this. This main character goes into his job and his house and everything about it must fit into a time line where EVERYTHING might be different, from the pictures on his desk to the dishes in the kitchen. Yet this show does all that while working well as a procedural crime detection show. He must solve murders in an environment where half the time the victim isn't dead.Maybe it's not that tricky why the decision makers say "How about a bunch of zombies running around eating people?" Makes my decision easy. Turn it off.

It's been 2 years now and i have seen many of TV series in one go. Like, "started Prison Break today" and after a month, "I'm off to Breaking Bad". But here I came across a damn great one. I'm shocked why people around me never came to know of this great Thriller, Fantasy Series. But lately, I started it and Voila, it was like over in a week. It just grasped me so much that I was in it's control all-over. Even when i went to sleep, I imagined myself as 'Britten' and that i would reach that parallel universe. Again, the cast is just so great! The psychiatrists, I just love them. Their way of reasoning in every episode, their one-sided approach to every story and case Britten goes through. But now I'm feeling sad that the show has been discontinued. It ought to have continued like for a 4-5 Seasons. It must have had a grand-finale, great buzz around, a ton of Grammys in it's name. I just hope this is read over by Jason Isaacs and some great TV-network who would feel to continue this show and make my dream come true.

This show is absolutely amazing! The acting, especially that of the protagonist, played by Jason Isaacs, is outstanding. I really liked the ending, I thought it was greatly satisfying, and I am actually happy that the show was canceled because it wrapped up the story nicely. I cannot quite put my finger on what exactly was so appealing about this show. I think it was the likability of Detective Britten. I thought of Michael Britten as the quintessential hero, I really took a liking to him. I would recommend this show to anyone without hesitation.I'm going to buy the Blu-ray when it comes out! NBC, don't fail me now!If ever Detective Britten, and Shawn Spencer (of Psych) joined forces, they'd be a force to be reckoned with!Good thing Psych hasn't been canceled, I would never watch TV again.

I first heard about this show in early 2011 and I was immediately intrigued. Jason Isaacs was perfect as Michael Britten.I love well-done crime/forensic shows and this show had that and so much more. The crime/suspense themes in the show could have stood on their own, but the underlying thread of grief made it exceptional.I loved this show on so many levels it's difficult to describe. I would so dearly love to see it continue but it seems that when I truly love a show it doesn't make it to a second season (Flash Forward comes to mind). But even Flash Forward wasn't really in the same league as Awake.Save Awake! http://change.org/petitions/a-wake-up-nbc
