This little series came out of no where in 1995. I'm pretty sure i missed this when it came out .. I think I must have been before my high school time when this came out, but some of it seems oddly familiar.Maybe some of this was done before in another series, but I can not find anything to match this. It is definitely dated and very mid 1990s... but it is all the better for it. The shows on 4x3 which is fine and the video is not the best quality, but I've seen worse. What is amazing is the series as a whole.. it has some weak points for sure, but it has many more strong points. It is not boring - even if you are bored, just pay more attention, everything is important and information from previous episodes is not forgotten, even if it may seem that way.I think it is best to go into the series with an open mind and simply know that Sheriff Buck is in charge of the small town of Trinity. If you buy from iTunes I would not even read the synopsis - because you would not normally get one when viewing the TV series.A few more things about the sheriff - Lucas Buck will also help you - for a price and hang you for your own ill advised deeds. Also loyalty counts, but who are you loyal to?It is not perfect, but definitely 9/10 or 4 Suns and 1 Dwarf Star (for good measure) out of 5 Stars.

AG was an excellent presentation of drama, suspense and thriller that is so rare to American TV. Sheriff Lucas gave many a viewer the willies. We rooted for Caleb as he strove to resist the overtures of Sheriff Lucas. We became engrossed and fearful upon learning of the unthinkable connection between these two characters. The manipulations which weekly gave cause to fear what Lucas would do next were truly surprising. This show lived up to the "Gothic" moniker in ways American entertainment has so seldom attempted, much less mastered. The suits definitely made a big mistake in not supporting this show. This show puts shame to the current glut of "reality" shows- which are so less than satisfying viewing. The call for a DVD box set is well based. This show is quality viewing for a discerning market hungry for quality viewing. A public that is tiring of over-saturation of mind-numbing reality fare will welcome this gem of real storytelling. Bring on the DVD box set!!

I remember watching American Gothic when it first aired, it came into my mind recently, all I could remember was the same guy appeared in Midnight Caller, which is Gary Cole, I don't watch much TV, but I watched American Gothic, I purchased the Complete Series on DVD this week,& it's still as good as ever, This is one of the best TV series ever, the reason I don't watch much TV is because it's just rubbish that's on, except for Derren Brown, it's all Reality TV or Soaps, such as Grease, Big Brother etc, i'm fed up with it, I got the Complete Series of American Gothic for £16.97 form the Asda website, that's the cheapest I can find it.

I Love this show! It truly is epic, worthy of our devotion. For those of you who own it on DVD - Be warned! The episodes are out of sequence! The last episode is really episode 16, there are several other discrepancies, doctor Matt gets committed then reappears in the next episode only to disappear an episode later. The entire last disc is out of sequence. If you haven't watched it yet, try to download an episode list first. Yet, despite this, it still has an almost tangible virility, the superb acting and character development make it a show well worth watching. If you haven't seen it yet then I would seriously advise you purchasing this, if only to see how far Lucas Buck will go in his quest to win over Caleb. Enjoy!
