coolisnotcold I have to confess I really missed Aubrey. I hope this show gives people a better look at her so they see her as more than just a sex object as there's so much more to love about her. The struggle about her body issues is something that really hit home with me and I think lots of people can relate to. And though it's sad it's also reassuring to see that even hot, young, smart, capable women can have issues finding a good relationship, too. She is very honest about her sexuality and viewers can finally see that Aubrey is really a good girl acting bad instead of a bad girl. I question the friends she has around her though, especially Stephanie she just seems really fake and the fights seem stages and in a way I hope they are otherwise she has some really shallow friends.
Alana Lisbon Aubrey is definitely the star of this show & I frankly think it would be much better without her "friends" on it. The one girl in particular seems like a fame-monger & their overwrought drama isn't funny or entertaining or even dysfunctional, it's just boring. That's the one problem with the show-when it's not all about Aubrey it lags & one finds their attention starting to drift. The show features Aubrey O'Day show the former "Making the Band"/Danity Kane member, Playboy cover girl and Broadway (Amber Von Tussel in Hairspray) & Peepshow performer as she tries to resurrect her career and her self-esteem. The music business is not kind to women and to watch Aubrey, who is obviously a smart, talented young woman struggle between staying true to herself and her art, and paying her bills by being the celebrity that the tabloids slam. She says it best, "Being a celebrity paid when being an artist didn't." That honesty is one of her best traits. Fighting back from being fired on national television from Danity Kane, fueling rumors that, true or not, put her in an unflattering light, being blamed for the demise of the group Danity Kane though time has shown that her suspicions of underhanded dealings with a fellow band mate were true, being blacklisted from working with many of the people she knew in the industry from P. Diddy's, plus trying to be the sexpot that gets attention while being respected for her brain-it makes people really want her to succeed. I expect that the show will become even more appealing once Aubrey starts feeling like herself again, instead of the beaten-down person that she'd become and viewers can see her fighting, free spirit back.
