The show definitely has it moments. The jokes are predictive and sometimes a little "childish" but it is a kids/teenshow after all. You could easily catch something similar on Nickelodeon or Disney Channel but i did find myself enjoying the show after a few episodes. The acting isn't bad, the actors do their job very well. I would say: give this show a try on a lazy Sunday when you're caught up with all your other tv shows. You might just like it, who knows?

While yes this feels in every way like a Disney show but it doesn't mean it's a bad show. While yes there are sometimes you forget she has cancer BUT there are different stages of cancer that can show little to no signs to big intense signs. Even then it's not about cancer it's about a teen with cancer and society reacting to her with cancer. If this was a show that every episode she was in the hospital then yes it wouldn't be that good of a show but it's not. In fact I think it's a good representation of how a society sees someone who has a disability or a disease. So it's not that bad but if it it was only less Disney channel esk, maybe it could be taken more seriously.

Being diagnosed with bone cancer about 3 years ago was not easy. I did lose my hair and went through treatment. It was not fun and games at all. There is this one scene where Alexa uses her cancer as an excuse so that she doesn't get in trouble for messing around in the wig store and the lady that works at the store took pity on her and acted all nice afterwards. Seriously?! Is that what cancer is? Something that people should just take pity on cancer patients? Absolutely not! I also hated how unrealistec this was. The jokes were cringe worthy and its like the show kinda minimizes cancer. Cancer is not something you can go to school and just be a little sick at times. It's so much worse than being weak every now and then. I can't believe this show has around a 7 star rating...

I was a little skeptical at first, but Alexa and Katie is an amazing tv show! For someone who has never had cancer, or been close to anyone who has had to deal with long term cancer, I found it really helpful in understanding that kind of life. It also helped me see that having cancer doesn't change someone, and that they are still normal people. I loved the characters, and although there were some very stereotypical, overused traits and scenes, but all in all they added to the shows quality, and made me love it even more. Amazing tv show, and I hope that there is a season 2! (Also Alexa is the one with cancer, not Katie @amanda2332332)
