Tweetienator If you like zombie movies you know of course Fulci's works, but in the case that you like everything zombie related and you are too young to know his work and by whatever demonic influence you didn't stumble over his movies, this one is a very good start to explore Mr. Fulci's truly gory B-movie cosmos.
framptonhollis Listen: this is NOT by any means a perfect movie, as a matter of fact it's severely flawed. The characters are mostly pretty bland and never develop, some of the banter towards the beginning is more cringe worthy than funny, and the overall pacing and structure are quite off; however, that being said, "Zombie" is, simply put, a damn good time at the movies! Regardless of flaws, this film has enough entertainment and shock value to be thoroughly enjoyable, particularly in its second half in which things go off the rails. There are moments that made me feel incredibly tense, others made me squirm in disgust, others made me laugh, and many made me marvel at the wonderful gore effects and camera work. And my reaction to the very ending was sort of an awkward (but great nonetheless) mix of the aforementioned emotional responses; it is clear that the final shots have a tongue in cheek quality to them, but they are also haunting in a bizarre sense, and this feeling is VERY much appropriate as a closer to a movie that is genuinely and relentlessly strange and goofy, but still unconventionally magic and awfully horrific!
kahoot awesome one of the best films ever made. it is the unofficial sequel to the original film Dawn of the dead. it is about an island that has a voodoo curse on it and the 4 people on the island must try to escape alive. When one of the members Peter is wounded they must get him across the island to the hospital while fighting zombies and avoiding the deep jungle and ancient burial grounds of the island. when the film is over you will watch in horror as the zombies invade New York and our heroes are hopeless to stop the impending apocalypse that will come with this army of the dead. this film is followed by Zombi 3 and the spinoffs are zombie holocaust.
utgard14 Lucio Fulchi's "masterpiece" about a zombie outbreak on a Caribbean island that may be making its way to New York. It's one of the better non-Romero zombie movies ever made. No it doesn't have the social commentary in George Romero's films that critics love so much but it does have lots of cool gross-out scenes and plenty of atmosphere and scares that most zombie flicks today lack entirely. The makeup effects are great and the zombie scenes are done with quite a bit of creativity. The opening and closing scenes are very memorable. Some of my other favorite scenes include the one in the Conquistador cemetery and the one where a zombie fights a shark! The direction is good, as is the music score. The cast, led by Ian McCulloch and Tisa Farrow (less talented sister of Mia), does a solid job. Yes, there's dubbing but it doesn't detract much from this kind of movie. If anything it adds to the experience. I'm sure most spaghetti fans will understand what I mean. This is about as good as it gets for me as far as Italian splatter movies go. I'm not the biggest fan, especially as I get older and less interested in the gore and guts stuff. But this one is so well done I still find it fun to watch.
