jts0405 After Cyber Sunday in earlier November 2006 it was already time for Survivor Series, the matches were OK, but I just seemed as if they it together way to fast. Most of the elimination tag matches were just crappy. I did like a few of them and all and all it was alright. I own the DVD now and even though half of it was crap, some of it was alright like I said. John Cena's elimination match was just a complete waste. Batista was able to finally beat King Booker and that seemed to be the highlight of the night and it possibly stole the show by far. For all WWE fans we hope that next year is going to be better and that is from all of us fans.
kliko400 Just bought the DVD yesterday & let me tell ya, it was very good in my opinion, not the best of course but still very good.FIRST MATCH- TEAM RIC FLAIR {RON SIMMONS, SERGAENT SLAUGHTER, DUSTY RHODES VS. TEAM SPIRIT SQUAD {MIKEY, NIKEY, KENNY & JOHNNY} IN A 4-4 ELIMINATION MATCH Not a bad way to open up Survivor Series. Although the match took a little slow to start a bit at the start it was still okay. Flair is the last man standing out of his team against 3 of the Spirit Squad members. Flair eliminates Mikey after a roll-up using the ropes. Flair then gets a roll-up on Kenny to eliminate him. Flair then eliminates Johnny after making him tap out to the Figure 4 Leg Lock to get the win for his team. 4/10SECOND MATCH- CHRIS BENOIT VS. CHAVO GUERRERO W/ VICKIE GUERRERO FOR THE WWE UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP This was a fast-paced wrestling match by both of these men. Both men had a couple of strong wrestling action with both men seriously taking it to each other. Benoit knocks Chavo {Into Vickie Guerrero who was standing on the apron} then gets him in a Sharpshooter to make him tap out to retain his US Title. 5/10THIRD MATCH- MICKIE JAMES VS. LITA FOR THE WWE WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP Even though I'm not a big fan of Diva matches. This one had a little fast wrestling pace going through it. Mickie James wins after a cool looking DDT to get the win & become the new WWE Women's Champion. After the match Cryme Tyme comes & sells all of Lita's stuff {Which Cryme Tyme sneaked into Lita's locker room & stole it} much to the delight of fans as this was Lita's final wrestling match before she retires. 4/10FOURTH MATCH- TEAM DX {CM PUNK, JEFF HARDY & MATT HARDY} VS. TEAM RATED R-K-O {GREGORY HELMS, JOHNNY NITRO W/ MELINA & MIKE KNOX W/ KELLY KELLY} IN A 5-5 ELIMINATION MATCH I liked this elimination much, it was alright & had great action in it including seeing Edge & Orton's team all getting flogged. Not one member of DX's team is eliminated while in Rated RKO's team only Randy Orton is left. Orton tries escaping through the crowd but gets caught by the Hardy Boys & CM Punk & throwed back in the ring. In the ring Michaels nails him with Sweet Chin Music followed by a Pedigree by HHH to get the win for their team. 5/10FIFTH MATCH- UNDERTAKER VS. MR. KENNEDY IN A FIRST BLOOD MATCH Good brawl by both men who try to make each other bleed which is the rule in the match to win. During the match, Mr. Kennedy was bleeding from the mouth but the referee did not see it. Then MVP interfered & threw Mr. Kennedy back in the ring, then got a chair & it looked like he was about to nail it on Mr. Kennedy but accidentally nailed it on Undertaker's head which busted him wide open making Mr. Kennedy the winner. After the match Undertaker goes berserk & busts Mr. Kennedy wide open then nails a Tombstone on him. 5/10SIXTH MATCH- TEAM CENA {ROB VAN DAM, KANE, BOBBY LASHLEY & SABU} VS. TEAM BIG SHOW {TEST, MVP, FINLAY & UMAGA W/ ARMANDO ELJANDRO ESTRADA} This was the best elimination match of the night. Great action from both teams as Survivor Series seriously is the best PPV of the year. Cena & Lashley are the last two in their team while Big Show is the last remaining member in his team. Big Show gets Cena & almost does a Chokeslam but Lashley comes & nails a running spear on Big Show which allows Cena to get an F-U on Big Show for the win for his team. 6/10SEVENTH MATCH- BATISTA VS. KING BOOKER T W/ SHARMELL FOR THE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP {The title can also change hands by DQ & Countout. Also if Batista loses, then he will never get another opportunity at the World Heavyweight Championship}. Not really a bad match, but even though I did not watch last year's Summerslam, I assume that this match was better than their encounter at Summerslam. Sharmell tries to interfere, but Batista gets her & almost is about to nail a Powerbomb on her, but lets her go. Batista turns around & Booker goes to nail Batista with the World Title {Which Sharmell gave to him behind the referee} but Batista ducks & nails King Booker with his own World Title belt & pins him for the 3 count to get the win & to become the new World Heavyweight Champion & regain it back after he had to forfeit it last year in January due to injury. 5/10 This Survivor Series wasn't that bad, it was pretty good as usual as all Survivor Series PPV's are.Overall: I'll give it 7/10 & a C+
Stuart Wilson Almost 18,000 fans had jam packed the Wachovia Centre in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for the 20th annual Survivor Series. There were three championships on the line, a First Blood Match and the return of the Survivor elimination tag team matches. There was certainly going to be something for everyone. Wasn't there? WWE chose a weird way to start the night of. They rolled the legends out for their battle with The Spirit Squad, 4 on 4 elimination style. This should have delivered big time entertainment but instead this just plain stunk. Ron Simmons was counted out 3 minutes into the match and then Arn Anderson and Mitch were sent to the back for fighting outside the ring. Sgt Slaughter was next to go just minutes later. Nicky was eliminated by Dusty Rhodes to pull one back for the legends at the 06:55 mark but he was put out himself minutes later leaving the Ric Flair (57) to battle three under 25's. Realistically The Spirit Squad should have dismantled Flair but instead what happened? Flair, in just over a minute and a half, defeated all the three remaining members of the Squad. Unbelievable. The real wrestling started with match number two. Chris Benoit putting the United States Championship on the line against Chavo Guerrero. Despite the disgusting Eddie Guerrero storyline that goes along with this feud, the match was certain to deliver, and it did to a degree. At just over ten minutes long the action was fast paced and had the crowd up for it but as has been the case with so many WWE matches this year, you never feel like the two men got long enough to show they could really do. Still, a good match with Benoit retaining with the Crippler Crossface. A rematch is certain. After their diabolical performance at Cyber Sunday I was dreading the embarrassment that was sure to be the Woman's Championship match. I am pleased to say that it was a lot, lot better than I thought it was going to be. In fact I would go as far to say it was the best championship match of the night. This was to be Lita's curtain call for WWE. Would she get the same send of that Trish Stratus got in Toronto? Hell no. Mickie James was crowned the new Woman's Champion much to the delight of everyone around the world. To add to Lita's humiliation of losing on her last night, Cryme Tyme hit the ring with Lita's big box and started auctioning her bra, pants and other materials to the crowd and to JBL. Good riddance Lita.We were back to the elimination matches with match number four. The one I had been looking forward to most. Surly this was going to be a rival to the intense Team Austin v Team Bishoff match at SS 2003. With the World Tag Team, Intercontinental and Cruiserweight Champions all in this match it could not go wrong, but it sure as hell did. This was a clean sweep for Team DX. Triple H, Shawn Michaels, CM Punk (who tore the house down) and the reuniting Hardy Boyz defeated Mike Knox, Johnny Nitro, Gregory Helms, Edge and Randy Orton, in that order, in just eleven and a half minutes. Don't get me wrong, the action was hot when it got going but the booking was diabolical. Knox was eliminated with Sweet Chin music within 40 seconds of the bell. That makes him out to be nothing more than a jobber. In fact this ludicrous waste of time made the whole Team R.K.O seem like jobbers. We went from bad to worse in match five as The Undertaker was after Ken Kennedy's blood at the event he had debuted at sixteen years earlier. There just seems to be a little something missing when these two step foot in the ring together. I only started to get interested in this feud after the match actually ended. MVP, who turned on Kennedy earlier on in the match, accidentally busted the Dead Man open to give Kennedy the win. The sight of his own blood sent The Undertaker wild and he belted Kennedy a vile, bone crunching chair shot. The Undertaker then nailed a botched Tombstone that looked painful as hell. Nothing settled in this match. Like the US Championship, a rematch is likely. We then had the final Survivor Series elimination match, surly it had to be third time lucky. No such lick. John Cena and Bobby Lashley were the sole survivors of their team (which also consisted of Rob Van Dam, Sabu and Kane) in an overbooked pile of crap against The Big Show, Umaga, Finlay, MVP and Test. This was longest elimination match of the night with a total time of 12:35. What an embarrassment. Then came the icing on the cake. King Booker's defence of the World Heavyweight Championship against Batista in a match so dull it could have put Philadelphia to sleep. These two have no chemistry together in the ring and I wish I thought this feud was over with this match but it looks set to continue. Batista picked up the duke after belting the King with his own championship belt. Batista, 10 months after relinquishing the championship finally had it back and the crowd response was pathetic. I've watched Hogan main events with more excitement in them that this mess.So that was the 20th annual Survivor Series event and it stunk. This had the potential to be the card of the year but there was nothing notable happened on this night from an in ring action standpoint that will be remembered for years to come. There was no fantastic elimination matches like back in 1988; no great championship matches like Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels in 1992 or Hart and Nash in 1995. This was just boring.
