This One Night Stand event may not have been as great as the previous ones, but what more can you say? It did deliver even though the ending might have sucked for most WWE viewers.Match 1: Jeff Hardy vs. Umaga in a Falls Count Anywhere - Strangely enough the Falls Count Anywhere match was the main event at One Night Stand 2007 and now it is opening the show this year. So Jeff Hardy and Umaga basically briefly feud again and are thrown into this match on the One Night Stand card. It was actually a very impressive match. They got the crowd fired up for what was coming later on in the night. In the end Jeff dives off a truck outside the building onto Umaga for the win. I have only one thing to say OH MY GOD. Fantastic opener.Match 2: CM Punk vs. Big Show vs. John Morrison vs. Chavo Guerrero vs. Tommy Dreamer in a Singapore Cane match - The winner of this very brutal contest will get to face Kane for the ECW Championship at Night of Champions. I really felt let down because it is the extreme pay per view and the extreme champion is not competing. Anyway we see this gruesome battle with Singapore Canes in which The Miz and Bam Neely also get involved. In the end The Big Show takes the victory against all of the other former ECW Champions.Match 3: John Cena vs. JBL in a First Blood Match - For the first time since 2005 we are seeing a feud play out between both John Cena and JBL. It all started after Backlash when Cena made JBL submit to his STFU during the Fatal Four Way Elimination main event for the WWE Championship. After that the two had a match at Judgment Day, in which Cena got the better of JBL again. So the two square of this time with the stipulation being a First Blood match. The two take shots at each other with almost anything. The match goes almost a solid 15 minutes with these guys nailing each other with almost anything. Cena in the end chokes JBL until blood runs out of his mouth. Strange way to win, but nevertheless Cena wins again.Match 4: Beth Phoenix vs. Melina in a I Quit match - This show really seems like were back in 2003 and this is a Raw brand event. Mainly because a good amount of these matches on the card were from the Raw brand. So right now we have Beth Phoenix taking on the newly turned face Melina. The feud really began at Judgment Day when Mickie James retained her Women's title against both of them. So with the two at each other's throats we have this I Quit match for the first time ever pitting two women. This was surprisingly the best Divas match of 2008. Phoenix continuously dominated with submissions and in the end made Melina utter the words I Quit.Match 5: Batista vs. Shawn Michaels in a Stretcher match - Even though Batista resided on SmackDown at this time, this was still considered a Raw brand match because of the commentary from J.R. and The King. Shawn Michaels has been racking up pay per view win after pay per view win since Wrestlemania when he ended Ric Flair's career. He beat Batista at Backlash and then Chris Jericho at Judgment Day. A pretty good 2008 for Michaels. Well it all came to a halt at One Night Stand when Batista was out for revenge. After defeating Chris Jericho to get another shot at Michaels, Batista made it a promise to beat Shawn Michaels. Well he made good on the promise because he dominated Michaels the entire time. In the end he rolls Michaels across on the stretcher for the win. Jericho looked very upset with Michaels at the time, which lead to their rivalry in late 2008.Match 6: Triple H vs. Randy Orton in a Last Man Standing match for the WWE Championship - Triple H took the title from Orton at Backlash and since then Orton has been a man possessed trying to regain his Championship. At Judgment Day Orton came up short in a Cage match, but he got this second chance in a match he originally beat Triple H in for the WWE Championship. Well this wasn't as good as their No Mercy 2007 Last Man Standing brawl, but this had it's moments. Surprisingly Raw didn't get the main event after getting every other match on the card. In the end Orton goes to get back into the ring, but Triple H rams him with a sledgehammer to keep him down for the ten count and to retain his title.Match 7: Edge vs. Undertaker in a TLC match for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship - I for one didn't understand Vickie Guerrero's logic in taking Undertaker's title. Mainly because she gave him two chances to regain it. Why even take it from him at all? But this literally was the final stage in the Edge/Undertaker World Championship theme rivalry. Undertaker practically was unreal, he took on Curt Hawkins, Zack Ryder, Bam Neely, Chavo Guerrero and of course Edge. The match was a very good one with a lot of tables spots, chair spots and of course ladder spots. In the end when we think Undertaker has it he is tipped off the ladder and put through 4 or 5 tables. Edge regains the title that he lost at Wrestlemania.

Well I ordered this PPV and when all was said and done and was just amazed on how great all the matches were I mean Every match was great and there was not a flaw in them. This time the divas match was a great match and I was very impressed with it. The best match was the undertaker vs. edge TLC match. So make sure that you see WWE one night stand because it is amazing.Match ratings: (Fall Count anywhere) Jeff hardy vs. Umaga ****1/2 out of ***** (Singapore cane match) Big Show vs. CM Punk vs. Morrison vs. Dreamer vs. Chavo ***** out of ***** (first Blood match) Cena vs. JBL **** out of ***** (I quit Match) Beth Phoenix vs. Melina ***1/2 out of ***** (stretcher match) Shawn Michaels vs. Batista ***** out of *****(last man standing) HHH vs. Orton ***** out of ***** (TLC) The undertaker vs. Edge ***** out of *****Match Results:Jeff Hardy Defeated Umaga (Falls Count anywhere)The Big show defeated CM Punk & Morrison & Chavo & Dreamer (Singapore cane Match)John Cena Defeated JBL (First Blood Match)Beth Phoenix Defeated Mickie James (I quit Match)Batista Defeated Shawn Michaels (Stretcher match)HHH Defeated Orton (Last Man Standing Match)Edge Defeated The Undertaker (TLC)Overall Score: ********** out of *************** out of *****

Look, this ppv is okay, some great hardcore matches which wwe seems to shy away from nowadays. But seen as Vince has released nearly all the original ecw superstars (or left), a ppv I look forward to every year left me feeling unsatisfied. Using clever camera angles and lots of fake blood instead of some real hardcore wrestlers was typical Mcmahon. The 1 matches that did have a original was as usual seen as not equal to the wwe wrestlers, the chants of ecw are a mere fading echo in the background...sad day for those who remember the old ecw. Seems one night stand will turn into a graveyard remembrance day, which is fitting considering the amount of so-called dead wrestlers in wwe.
