Adrien Brody did an excellent job and I wonder if without him this movie would even exist ! The problem is that in the trailer, we can see that he is a hostage ! This should have been absolutely avoided as the whole story is about the main character questioning himself who he is and what he has done ! There would be more suspense for us to find it out with him.So I was not captivated by the story, but if he will find out that he is not the one he thinks he is... As other people suggested, I think this would be a nice short movie. Thanks to Adrien Brody's talent, I could watch it until the end. My vote is more for the actor.

I read many other reviews saying this movie is slow. How could it be fast? The wrecked man had two broken legs, was starving and thirsty. Not every story can be like the fast and the furious: this story HAD to be slow.I loved Brady's performance in "The Jacket"... in this role he is even more skinny, fleshless; virtually silent (one of the few American film I understood without subtitles :)I also disagree with reviewers who say that this should have been a good short. Definitely not! Viewer needs time to enter the situation, empathize with the character, realize who he thinks to be, who he is not and so onSometimes we need to slow down, don't we?****/5

Mr. Brody is a fine actor, and we always enjoy seeing him in action. His name was the main reason we decided to watch this disappointing film. We realize that actors look forward to, and relish a role that allows them the opportunity to cut loose and gnash their teeth and in this film, Mr. Brody does a lot of tooth gnashing. He wakes up trapped in a wrecked car in a forest. Obviously he has no idea where he is and he is in great pain. Eventually he realizes that two dead men occupy the rear seat, and there is no driver. In one of the few lines in the film, he speaks, indicating that he doesn't know who he is. This is almost another "The Jacket", but "The Jacket" had a point. Writhing with this man (we never know his name and neither does he),for an hour and half of suffering and fevered hallucinations proved to be too excruciating (for us). We had to keep hitting the fast forward button, hoping for something to happen. From the disc cover we had the impression that he awakes to find not only guns but money. Since the driver was not in the wrecked vehicle, we expected him to return, perhaps with henchmen, to reclaim the money and create some mayhem, but unfortunately nothing like that ever happens. In fact nothing at all happens save for a few brief hallucinations that contribute nothing to this tale, until finally, only at the very last minute — in a hopelessly contrived scene of recovering memory — we get the barest glimpse of who this man may have been and how he got into this sorry situation; the end. Like the punch line at the end of a long bad joke, this leaves you with your mouth open, saying: "And...you mean that's it?"

I cannot understand why this film wasn't better received, especially among the Commenters herein. Though "survival" films are a sub-genre many find tedious, Iwas intrigued throughout, both with the survival aspect and the back story about how our "man" got there in the first place. I cannot say that the "back story" was wholly satisfying, though it was/is an interesting idea to tease the viewer with the idea that the survival being so fervently sought is neither deserved nor rewardable. Brody was great: Think how few actors could pull this role off as well. I can understand how some viewers would become impatient, especially the slogging through the woods second half. For some reason I found myself becoming frustrated FOR our character, as opposed to frustrated with the film. Such translated into entertainment for me. I'll take ideas, technique and perseverance over big production every time.
