hessphil I had heard various things about this documentary before watching it, but after watching it, i liked it a lot. as a huge flogging molly fan it gave me some insight and background to one of my favorite bands and since watching it i've found myself enjoying their music even more. the documentary shows you that this is a band with soul and passion for what they do, and it shows in the music. you can see how much the band means to all of its members and to its fans around the world. it also has a lot of good concert footage and convinced me that i have to see flogging molly live. if you like flogging molly, you will like this movie. great band, great movie.
colleen (youresorad_) With Flogging Molly you can't expect anything less than amazing. Going to a live show is like going to something out of this world you'll be sure to leave happy. As a big fan of this band I can really say I appreciate them even more so after hearing their stories of their personal life, life on the road and their beginnings at L.A. pub Molly Malone's. Hearing about lead singer Dave King returning to Ireland after eight years to find that his mother didn't remember him was heartbreaking, and it makes you realize just how much heart he really puts into the songs he writes. ("The Son Never Shines On Closed Doors" was about that incident.) Even if you've never listened to Flogging Molly, even if you're not Irish I recommend this to ANYONE. Go! Get it!
icebum16 I saw this movie today and never heard of flogging molly but was bored so gave it a shot. UNBELIEVABLE. I didn't know music like this existed, I cant believe its made it, and I cant wait to see it LIVE!!! I'm usually not really into any music but this was AMAZING. PLEASE FLOGGING MOLLY, TAKE ME INTO YOUR BAND, ILL BE THE BADGERS ASSISTANT, I WANT TO HELP YOU GUYS MAKE IT TO THE TOP, YOUR ALMOST THERE!!! The movie was good and I feel like I know everyone in the band personally. I laughed, I cried...(OK almost cried), and even started doing my own jig (well if thats what you want to call it), but if this movie aimed to inspire, it succeeded in all facets, if anything to start realizing and taking into consideration how much one has to go through just to get a song played on a radio, and how to make it even if radio wont!!! NOT TO BE MISSED...
christianatkins-1 An awe inspiring look at a band who in themselves became their own genre, Flogging Molly. From their humble beginnings to their sold out amphitheaters, Whiskey on a Sunday examines in detail the rise of "the greatest band in the world" (not to be confused with the greatest band on earth..Tenacious D) by looking at its individual musicians lives up to and in the band. A very inspirational movie for not just those wanting to get into music, but for anybody that has a dream. Not only does the documentary examine the what impact the band has on its members, but how its members impact the music itself, and how that in turn effects the fans. Not to be thrown to the side as another self-glorifying spectacle that would only entertain the hardcore of fans, but anybody at any age that has ever been told they wouldn't make it. Although the film is a little grainy at times and is obviously not top quality picture, the story couldn't be better written in Hollywood thus enforcing the underlying message in the film, that although things may not conform to monotonous music industry standards, with heart and confidence anything can be accomplished.
