The Couchpotatoes Well I hope this is not going to be the new definition for horror movies because When The Bough Breaks isn't one. It's one of those movies that has been done before, and way better also. You could call it a thriller but I didn't thrill much because you basically know what's going to happen with every step of the movie. Now if the actors were exceptional then you could have saved this movie with their great acting skills. Unfortunately it's not the case. They're just mediocre actors, the kind you will never remember their name. You know their faces when you see them but that's about it. But if you never saw the story of a crazy pregnant bitch that falls in love with the sperm donor then you might like this one, but if I was in your shoes I would watch Fatal Attraction again instead. Otherwise just skip it. That's a better option.
Janelle Williams Some people on here really want to be oppressed. There is nothing "racist" about this film, LMAO. The actor who plays the abusive boyfriend, Theo Rossi, is not even white, so please stop complaining. Also, "When The Bough Breaks" was clearly marketed as a Black Thriller, so if you dislike the .0001% of movies that actually aren't white male- centric, I suggest you don't watch them. Just A thought. This a good movie, with great acting by all three of the leads. Jaz SInclair and Regina Hall are the unsung heroes of this film. I find Jaz Sinclair incredibly sexy. There was something very magnetizing and intense about her performance. Even during the character's most brutal moments, I still felt the urge to protect Anna's sweet face. (I am saying this as a straight woman, btw) "When the Bough Breaks" is probably not a movie I'd see in theaters, but it is worth the watch nonetheless.
Reno Rangan I have to agree with the film critics on this one. Felt like I have already seen this film, but it turned out to be a very familiar thriller theme. It had plenty of issues and the first thing was the main plot in which the story built on. The mother-child connection is a very sensitive matter and that's where the film got stumbled. Even though they wanted to do film on that, they did not convince with the portrayed of the surrogate mother. From the entertainment perspective, it lacked the thriller big. The climax was all the sudden and then it ended just like that.At first I thought it might be a remake, but it was inspired or borrowed the theme from elsewhere. This psychological-thriller focused on to tell the tale of a wealthy childless couple. They decide to hire a young and beautiful Anna to be their surrogate mother. When everything was going very well, Anna's crush on the man she's carrying a baby begin to blow the things off. So now what happens to the couple, Anna and the baby revealed in the final segment.Thankfully, this is not the worst film of the year. I have even worse than this. But this can be easily a skippable one. There's no complaint over the actors, they had given what the characters demanded. Rich in quality, not a bad film from the technical aspect. Those are the area where it got scored a few points from me. If the screenplay had developed well, the film would have been in a different league. Particularly, I did not like the lack of diversity, looked like a black film for the black viewers. There are lots of similar films which are much better than this one that you could try.4/10
capone666 When the Bough BreaksThe easiest way for a childless couple to get a baby is to hang around a Walmart washroom.Unfortunately, the parents in this psychological thriller impregnated a surrogate instead.Unsuccessful in their attempts to conceive, John (Morris Chestnut) and Laura (Regina Hall) ultimately decide to fertilize another woman's eggs in order to start their family. While their proxy Anna (Jaz Sinclair) appears to be the perfect choice, she soon develops an unhealthy attraction towards John that finds her driving a duplicitous wedge between the couple that could not only cost them their unborn child, but also their own lives.A glorified Lifetime movie masquerading as a major motion picture, this substandard melodrama even lacks the tautness and titillation needed to be a movie of the week. Low on ingenuity and craziness, this psycho stranger story fails at being bad. Besides, if the surrogate wants you dead won't your baby inherit that bloodlust? Red Lightvidiotreviews.blogspot.ca
