SlyGuy21 1st Match: Public Enemy vs The Nasty Boys, Falls Count Anywhere Street Fight. The show certainly starts off on a high point with this. It might've been to just copy ECW, but I still enjoyed it. There are chair shots, tables broken, trash can lids, and all out chaos. It might just be a bunch of spots, but this is the best WCW match I've seen in like 7 months. Here's the bad news though, this is the match of the night, and we still have 2 and a half hours left. Rating: 4.5/52nd Match: DDP vs Johnny B. Badd, winner gets the WCW World TV Title and the rest of DDP's money. The match is decent, this is like the 6th meeting between the two though, so it's all been done before. The most noticeable thing about the whole match is the ref's count is terrible, he has the slowest 3-counts since Teddy Long. I'm not joking, it takes like 6 seconds for him to count to 3, it's that noticeable. Maybe he was a new ref, but good lord is it bad. Badd wins, cool, put him in another feud please. Rating: 2.5/53rd Match: Sting and Lex Luger vs Harlem Heat, WCW World Tag Team Championships. Can they just pull the trigger on Luger already and make him just a heel or face, he's changed sides like 4 times in the past 3 shows. The match itself is nothing special, no real action to speak of, and then the Legion of Doom come out and screw Harlem Heat out of the win. Great! That was so worth my time! Rating: 2.5/54th Match: One Man Gang vs Konnan, WCW US Heavyweight Championship. This is terrible, neither guy's styles fit, and One Man Gang just lumbers around doing nothing. He also doesn't do Konnan any favors by not taking any of him moves well. It's just a mess, and it completely kills the crowd that was already dead to begin with. Rating: 1.5/55th Match: Kevin Sullivan vs Brian Pillman, "I Respect You" Strap match. Pillman quits in 90 seconds and walks out of WCW. Pointless. Rating: None6th Match: Kevin Sullivan vs Arn Anderson. A boring way to "make up" for Pillman just leaving. An impromptu match with nothing to it, until Flair has both guys become friends again. Again, pointless. Rating: 1.5/57th Match: Sting and Lex Luger vs The Road Warriors, WCW World Tag Team Championships. So after 5 straight minutes of stalling by Luger, this boring match starts. There's no highlight, because the match was dead from the start. And to top it all off, it ends in a double countout, so the whole match is just a waste of time. Stop booking matches this way! Rating: 1.5/58th Match: Randy Savage vs Ric Flair, Steel Cage match for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. An OK match I guess, I'm not really a fan of Steel Cage matches, because I can only count on one hand the amount of great ones I've seen, and this isn't one of them. The only interesting part I guess is Miss Elizabeth turning on Savage and helping Flair win the title again. So Savage had it for a month, lost it to Flair, who then lost it to Savage 2 weeks later, who then lost it to Flair 2 weeks later. You know what I love, pointless title reigns that serve no purpose. Rating: 2/59th Match: Hulk Hogan vs Big Show, Steel Cage match where the only way to win is escape. Of course Hogan gets top billing, why wouldn't he, he practically owns the company. Another bland cage match, with no interesting spots, or brutality, just the usual escape spots that fail. The only neat part is Big Show no selling 3 Hogan leg drops, other than that, this is just Hogan winning with no suspense or excitement. Rating: 1.5/5Final Rating: 4 out of 10. There's only one stand out match on this show, the rest are either matches that have been done to death, or just bad matches. Please WCW, get your stuff together, I can't take another terrible year like '95.
callanvass (02.11.96)Live from St. Petersburg, FLAttendance: 7,200Your hosts are Tony Schiavone, Dusty Rhodes & Bobby HeenanStreet Fight (Falls Count Anywhere)Public Enemy Vs The Nasty BoysThe Nasty Boys win. This street fight was a little bit too repetitive for my liking. There were too many of the same stunts going on for my liking. I also didn't care for the finish and found it to be somewhat anti-climatic.*3/4Television TitleJohnny B Badd (W/The Diamond Doll) Vs Diamond Dallas PaigeThe Diamond Doll is on the line here as well, as well as 6 Million dollars. Johnny B Badd wins with a tombstone piledriver. This is ANOTHER excellent match between these two. Every time these two wrestle, they seem to create instant magic together. It's filled with great near-falls and several exciting spots. Plus, you get an added bonus by getting to look at Kimberly (The Diamond Doll)***1/2Tag Team ChampionshipSting & Lex Luger (C) Vs Harlem HeatThe winner of this match faces The Road Warriors for the titles later tonight. Sting and Luger retain, thanks to interference from the Road Warriors. They get praised often by wrestling fans, but most Harlem Heat matches I see end up being boring. This is one of them.*1/2United States ChampionshipKonnan (C) Vs The One Man GangKonnan wins with a somersault splash. This was a terrible match that the crowd was completely dead for! OMG had way too much offense for my liking. As a result, it really ruined any chance this match had at being quality. *"I Respect You" Strap MatchKevin Sullivan (W/Jimmy Hart) Vs Brian PillmanIn order to win this match, the loser has to say "I respect you" to the opponent, it's basically an I Quit match with a strap. Pillman gives up on purpose and just walks off on Sullivan when the match has just begun. This was a really dumb finish. making this match almost somewhat pointless. I realize both are heels, but come on!DUDArn Anderson comes out and is gonna have a strap match with Kevin Sullivan, now!Kevin Sullivan (W/Jimmy Hart) Vs Arn AndersonBefore the match can finish, Ric Flair comes out and talks sense into both guys, claiming Hogan and Savage are more important. Anderson and Sullivan put their differences aside. It's a bit of a shame, because I was starting to get into the strap match. The crowds were begging to cheer Flair and Anderson, even though they were heels. *1/2Tag Team ChampionshipSting & Lex Luger (C) Vs The Road WarriorsThe match takes forever to get going because Luger is too scared to get in the ring. The match ends in a double countout after all four brawl with each other on the outside. Boy, was this boring! There were multiple occasions where I kept looking at my phone because of the lack of excitement in this match. The dysfunction of Sting and Luger is/was starting to wear very thin.*1/4WCW Heavyweight Championship (Steel Cage Match)Randy Savage (C) (W/Miss Elizabeth) Vs Ric Flair (W/Woman)Ric Flair becomes a 13 time world champion after waffling Savage with Elizabeth's shoe. Miss Elizabeth turned heel and is in cahoots with Ric Flair. This cage match is pretty disappointing. When Flair and Savage are in a match together, I automatically expected more from the two. It just felt like they seemed unsure of what to fully do with all the time they had and neither seemed truly motivated. As disappointed as I am, it is an above average cage match. **3/4Hulk Hogan runs into the cage and gives Arn Anderson and Ric Flair a couple of shots with the chair. I didn't like Miss Elizabeth's heel turn at all. Elizabeth should have been like Ricky Steamboat, a face for the rest of her career. Her being with Flair made no sense.Hulk Hogan Vs The Giant (W/Jimmy Hart & Kevin Sullivan) (Steel Cage Match)This is part 2 of the steel cage. Hogan wins by exiting the cage. After the match, Hogan fends off the ENTIRE Dungeon of Doom with his fists and a steel chair with a bad eye. Loch Ness (Giant Haystacks) wants to get in the cage, but The Dungeon of Doom won't let him. I've seen Hogan act like Superman on many occasions, but this was ridiculous! Not only does he beat The Giant, but he becomes a one man wrecking crew by beating up The Dungeon of Doom. By the way, the cage match was pretty awful. *Yet, another crappy PPV from WCW! It's filled with illogical twists and turns like WCW was known to do, the usual chaos, and mediocre matches. The only worthwhile thing on this PPV is the match between Diamond Dallas Paige and Johnny B Badd.
amanwhorocks 1. Street Fight: Public Enemy Vs. Nasty Boys - For me that was average hardcore match. PE never get some bigger chance, nor at WCW. 6/10 2. WCW TV Title Match: Diamond Dallas Page Vs. Champ-Johnny B.Badd - F*CK!! Third victory in a row for Badd? Who was that idiot who booked it. World war 3, Halloween Havoc and now Superbrawl. 3 matches and again and again Badd won over Page, yeah that's what we wanted to see. For that stupid booking I give this rating, really upset. 2/10 3. WCW World Tag Team Championship: Harlem Heat Vs. Champs-Sting/Lex Luger - tag match with these 4, what more should I say. I saw it 100x times. Champs retained thanks to help by Road Warriors. 6.5/10 4. WCW U.S. Heavyweight Title Match: One Man gang Vs. Champ-Konnan - Short match, but that doesn't mean it couldn't be terrible and boring. OMG has the advantage almost all the match And Konnan won with a 1 bad looking move. Waste of time. Nevermore 3/10 5. Strap Match: The Taskmaster Vs. Arn Anderson - Brian Pillman was booked against Sullivan, but with that legedary I RESPECT YOU, BOOKER MAN He left ring and so WCW. Then came Anderson and they basic brawl. 4.5/10 6. WCW World Tag Team Championship: Road Warriors Vs. Sting/Lex Luger - Average match with bad DQ count-out ending 6/10 7. WCW World Heavyweight Title Cage Match: Ric Flair vs. Champ-Randy Savage - match was like always between these two., but thx for the Flair's victory... 6/10 8. Cage: Hulk Hogan Vs. Giant - The most embarrassing thing on the card, Hogan of course won and after the match he clean house and all the Dungeon of Doom looked totally weak. He hadn't got "real enemy". Terrible PPV, terrible Main event. 3/10
