callanvass Live from St. Petersburg, FLAttendance 6,000Your commentators are Jim Ross & Dusty RhodesUnited States Tag Team TitlesThe Fabulous Freebirds (W/Diamond Dallas Paige & Big Daddy Dink) Vs The Young PistolsThe Freebirds win. It was chaotic, but not necessarily exciting. Maybe it's because I can't stand The Freebirds. Michael Hayes is a bit overrated, IMO. **1/2 out of 5Danny Spivey Vs Ricky MortonSpivey wins with a powerbomb. This was a glorified squash. Not much more to it3/4* out of 5We get a pointless segment of Missy Hyatt wanting to be the first female to enter the men's locker room to interview a guy. The fans booed it like crazy. Oh, Tom Zenk was there too.Nikita Koloff Vs Tommy RichKoloff wins with a running clothesline. Meh. Hard to care about this one either. Recurring theme during WCW at this juncture.*1/4 out of 5Johnny B. Badd cuts a promo. I wasn't even paying attention.Dustin Rhodes Vs Terrance (Terry) TaylorRhodes wins after Mr. Hughes costs Taylor the victory, inadvertently. Another mediocre match. Disappointing, really.*3/4 out of 5Big Josh (Doink) Vs Black BartBig Josh, LITERALLY has two bears with him while he walks down to ringside. This is WCW in the early 90's in a nutshell, folks. Big Josh wins with a sit-down splash. That was pure crap! Just awful stuff. See Big Josh's entrance for the sheer craziness, then skip the match.* out of 5Stan Hansen is interviewed by Paul E. Dangerously. He's got Tobacco Juice sticking out of his mouth. Oz Vs Tim ParkerOz is Kevin Nash. Nash wins in like 10 seconds. This PPV is garbageDUDMissy Hyatt goes into the men's locker room to try to interview Tom Zenk in the shower. She runs into Stan Hansen, who literally gives her a spanking and throws her out of the locker room. Well, then.Taped Fist Match'Flyin' Brian Pillman Vs Barry WindhamWindham wins with a superplex. This was one, brutal brawl. It was bloody, frenetic, and exciting. By far, the best match on the card so far. Both beat the living p** out of each other. *** out of 5Scott Hall makes his WCW debut as The Diamond Studd. Diamond Dallas Paige introduces him. Studd was kind of like The Narcissist, Lex Luger. Stretcher MatchSid Vicious Vs El GiganteGigante squashes Sid. What a joke!!! Sid was never the world's greatest wrestler, but man was he charismatic and fun to watch. No disrespect to El Gigante, but he was a huge flop in WCW and in WWE as Giant Gonzalez. Promoters fawned over his size and pushed him to the moon, despite that he couldn't wrestle worth crap. One Man Gang and Kevin Sullivan get one over on El Gigante after the match.DUDThunderdome Cage MatchRon Simmons Vs Butch Reed Teddy Long is suspended above a cage. Simmons wins with a spinebuster. This was better than it had any right to be. They didn't use the cage that much, but it ended up being watchable. That's all you can really ask for.** out of 5Tag Team TitlesThe Steiner Brothers (C) Vs Sting & Lex LugerThe Steiner's retain after Nikita Koloff interferes. Sting and Koloff end up battling it out in the parking lot. This was GREAT stuff. The excitement never stopped. Back and forth with little time to breathe and many shifts of momentum. I felt they booked it perfectly. If you're looking for a near underrated classic, this is a match you should see.****1/4 out of 5Television TitleArn Anderson (C) Vs Bobby EatonEaton wins the title with the Alabama Jammer (Leg drop from the top) Barry Windham tried to interfere, but Brian Pillman runs out to stop him. This was a decent match and a nice moment for Bobby Eaton. Great vet that works hard and can go with anyone.**1/2 out of 5World Heavyweight ChampionshipRic Flair (C) Vs Tatsumi FujinamiFlair retains after rolling up Fujinami and pulling the tights. This match was awkward and sloppy from the get-go. There were quite a few botched spots and it didn't flow very smoothly. Watchable, but it didn't feel like a main event and the crowd was bored to tears. I'd say it's a big misfire.** out of 5This PPV is barely above average, and I'm not sure it deserves that. See it for The Steiner's Vs Sting and Luger. The rest is either hit or miss, with most of it being skippable.5.4/10
amanwhorocks 1. US Tag Team Championship: Young Pistols Vs. Fabulous Freebirds - Match for vacated titles. 5/10 2. Taped Fist Match: Flyin' Brian Vs. El Gigante - El is even worse wrestler than Sid. He's maybe big, but that doesn't make him a good wrestler. 3/10 4. Thunderdome Cage Match: Butch Reed Vs. Ron Simmons - Simmons is usually very good wrestler, but this match wasn't. 5/10 5. World Tag Team Championship: Sting/Lex Luger Vs. Champs-The Steiner Brothers - That Was A MATCH!
