Horst in Translation ([email protected]) "Unser Willi ist der Beste" is also known as "Our Willi Is the Best" and there are a handful more German titles out there under which this film is listed. This is the third or fourth (if you count television) Willi film starring Heinz Erhardt and like the others it runs for approximately 90 minutes and is in color and it is also 45 years old. The title is once again a fairly catchy song that is used int he movie itself on several occasions, but that is also the only somewhat memorable aspect we have here. Erhardt of course oozes fun and fits the character perfectly, but maybe they would have needed a better duo of writers. Director Werner Jacobs also worked on a previous Willi Film. I myself must say that 3 was certainly (at least) one too many and I do not recommend the watch. Have to give it a thumbs down and I am baffled to see that another reviewer gave this film a perfect 10/10 rating. Is this on par with the likes of "The Godfather"? Decide for yourself. I was underwhelmed and I must say the comedy was not as funny as in the previous Willi film.

mp.visser (spoilers) In this movie we meet Heinz Erhard as a salesman in household goods. He is not very successful, he rather make people happy than make them pay. In the delightful comedy this is off course everything goes round. We seen him struggling is his wonderful way his fans can really appreciate. (do not miss the hilarious pool scene!). The plot gets more complicated when his niece falls in love with the son of his hire and fire boss. With the help of his former buddy's Heinz Erhard makes all the ends meet and there is truly a happy end.
