Why oh why do we keep making such bad movies in Canada. This film is an unoriginal cookie cutter clone of countless similar stories, complete with the unbearably cute kid, disgustingly lovable dog and predictably unsuitable foster father. It's poorly done, right from the opening scene which ingenuously misleads the viewer down the wrong path. This is to film making what a knock off Rolex is to watchmaking. It would be bad enough if a Hollywood film crew made the gratuitious errors in this film. It's unforgivable for Canadians. Child welfare cases are a matter of provincial, not federal jurisdiction in Canada. They certainly are not heard in the Supreme Court of Canada. A Canadian justice (not judge) is not addressed as "your honour" but "my lord." Having James Earl Grey play a Canadian justice, one who is anything but impartial and who is wearing the wrong robes, is just too much. This is a pointless waste of time, effort, money and film stock.

Although the girl is unbelievably smart and mature in this movie, it has a very touching, interesting and inspirational story. Emily Mae Young plays a very cute 6 year old girl that through out the movie will keep you interested. Although I've noticed some parts of it wasn't filmed as well as it could've been, it's probably not easy to film a movie to portray a little girl so cute and smart. Some parts of it almost made me cry, and I rarely cry. I can't believe it got such a low rating on IMDb, this movie should've got at least a 7. I would give it a 8/10.**** of 5 stars

This is a great movie with a very good plot also. You can help feeling heart broken in some scenes and love sick in others. Emily Mae Young was very god for her age, and i was also impressed with Dean Winters acting performance. I have followed what little of a career he has, and I think he has a very promising future. Especially in his work in "Oz". It's a great family film and i would highly recommend it.

Real Family movie that the entire family can enjoy. Sadly it this is extremely rare now a days. I was skeptical when looking at the tagline of "It was the love of a lifetime, and it took a child to see it." After watching it the tagline does not really convey the movie very well. While there is some good romance in the movie the movie itself does convey the complexity of relationships and how people who are too arrogant, selfish, greedy, prideful or etc. to recognize the truth can really wreck not just their lives but the lives of their children. This movie contains no politically warped agendas, no profanity, no nudity, no sex and no violence. Best thing that we've seen in years. Good plot, good acting, good actors, good directing, good producing and good writing.
