michelle-920-722440 After this month's horrific murder in Orlando, and after marching Sunday with Moms Demand Action at the SF Pride Parade, and after calling politicians during the government sit-in last week, I knew I had to learn more about the stranglehold the NRA has placed on our government… I just got off the couch from watching Katie Couric's newly released documentary (free on EPIX which Comcast doesn't offer… I streamed for $0.99 on Amazon). I took a huge number of notes on all the atrocities I learned, which I know I'll need as ammunition for future gun battles ahead. (PUBLIC DISCLAIMER; I don't believe in taking anyone's guns away. I think that it should be harder to shoot a gun than to drive a car… and believe in closing the terrorist watch list loophole.) I learned a ton with this less-than-2 hour documentary, and strongly recommend it to the members of Moms Demand Action/Everytown Against Gun Violence/the Brady Campaign and others interested in reducing gun violence – or learning why America is having such a hard time doing so. Yes I know there was one edit made unfairly for "the other side"... bottom line, this shares a lot of truths about why America can't change gun laws. If moms can lobby the automobile industry for safer cars and car seats - and win - then moms can do so with the NRA for gun safety and less gun violence. #Enough #DisarmHate
coreyjflynn Anyone who watches this joke of a documentary and believes it is a nut job. It has already been proved that it contains deceptive reporting. How it is even listed at 5 stars leaves me in wonders. Just google the video and you will see a line of news agencies on both sides of the isle reporting about how bad this is.Honestly I'd never trust Katie Couric or any of the companies sponsoring this video again.its a real shame that they have to spin propaganda like this to try to get people on their sides.Just remember that what they are doing here is attempting to take away your rights and access to protection that you may or may not need one day... but lots of people day after day use do use guns for protection. They are the great equalizer. An 80yo woman unarmed is an easy target... but with a gun and proper training, she's your equal.
erozpl I saw the "scandal" of curouic "doctoring" the video to make the pro- gun people appear dumb founded. I had to watch it myself. This who documentary lacks a single shred of journalistic integrity. It is absolutely biased and un-apologetically dishonest. Don't waste your time watching a video of lies. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIMEShe has since "apologized"but its not the first time she has been busted for writing sensational articles that are far from true. This lacks any scientific method to it. She set out to prove her hypothesis so she did anything to make her position seem right. If you respect your time, go out to a gun range and shoot a gun. Nothing will shut down her anti gun rhetoric but fighting back
gilmoreross As a film, Under the Gun is a just an average, slow-moving narrative. What makes it an exceptionally poor piece of film making however, is the fact that it is marketed and described as an objective and balanced documentary on the subject of gun control, when it is in fact nothing of the sort. This is plain and simple, a propaganda piece. The official website of the film actually comes with links about how to lobby for more gun control laws. At no point does the film attempt to present an actual balanced view on the subject. This is anti-gun propaganda, so thinly veiled that it comes across as lazy. Recently revealed information showing biased editing of interviews with pro 2nd Amendment activists, intentionally designed to inaccurately make them appear stumped by the questions, is as disappointing as it is not surprising. This is not journalism, and this is not a documentary. If you are looking for a balanced and fact based documentary on the subject of gun control, this is absolutely not the film for you.
