I came across this movie while reading up on Downey's biography. I must say I would have dismissed this movie if I had not known about Downey's history & how this movie was made. just 5 characters; 3 major & 2 minor, I didn't think I would last an hour. But, to my surprise, I did. Boy, oh boy! I quiet enjoyed it. The plot is simple - 2 girls are wait outside a building. They chat and in the process find out they share a common, 2-timing boyfriend. The rest of the movie is about how they confront him and how he reacts to being busted. Yes, it is chatty, yes, there are monologues, but, enjoyable and witty nevertheless. Downey carries the film with ease. One can relate to the plot. It can happen in everyday life. This is a refreshing take on the situation. We are treated not just with Downey's acting powers but also to his other gifts that are cleverly packaged in the movie. It does have a flavour of being a stage play but, that does not come in the way of the final experience.

At my local video rental store, they have a special place for Two Girls and a Guy. It's a long running joke really. The clerk lets people rent it for free. They value their customers too much to let them waste their hard earned money on it.I was extremely surprised to see that people gave this movie a good review. Maybe someone can explain it to me. (or maybe the positive comments were jokes? Did people involved with the movie write them? Perhaps the mother of the director/writer?)Maybe I've just seen so many good movies that this one fails in comparison.

I bought this movie because I am a huge Robert Downey Jr fan again and i am trying to get a hold of all of his past stuff. Now, this one intrigued me and after watching it, still does. It more plays out as something that belongs on the stage rather than screen. I could very much see it as a play. I do say that the most emotion went to Downey while the two girls were very good when they went on the attack. After seeing the whole movie, you see the two girls in different lights. Carla had the deeper emotional attachment to Blake even though she seemed cooler at the beginning. Lou seemed to be more enthralled with the idea of dating a celebrity. Over all good but it takes some thought.

First, ask yourself this question: What i am looking for? a) Light entertainment b)Great performances?. If you reply a) pass this movie, it will be booooooooooring. If you reply b) then this one's for you. Robert performance is great, and the two girls are good partners. Just to give an example check the scene at the jacuzzi. That scene was than only once, with dialogs between the 3...!!! I know there's a kind of monotony being filmed only in an apart but it's just a moment in the life of 3 people showed in a direct way. Now, that the studio's marketing dpt decided to promote it as a lightweight comedy is real, just look at the video cover and these comment (and others comments) and we'll agree.
