cheergal This movie somehow was wasted by its uninspiring and ridiculed story. There should not have problems to draw excellent writers to implement the story into its perfection. Nevertheless, the director lost his vision half way through.I loved "Girl with a pearl earring". This one could have been elevated into such level of quality. Unfortunately, it came out short. I had high expectations before watching it. And I was disappointed by its lack of efforts to convince the audience. It had stunning visuals of customs and scenery, but lacking of same quality of story to go with them. It is a sham when the director put so much effort into somewhere else other than the story itself.Anyway, you may choose to watch it. However, don't expect to be thrilled by.
love-sanne-love The actors, camerawork and set design is wonderful. but that is everything good about it.. it was an empty story. a story which seems hopeless, is still ending good and that's such a cliché. i am dutch myself and really would have liked real dutch actors to play these roles. there are some real talents over here.
sergelamarche The people are almost too good to be true in this film. Well, the good ones anyway, and even the bad ones. Unconventional story that was fun to watch.
allyse67-234-997100 I'm glad I watched it, but I think it actually suffered from too little time for such an elaborate story. When there are multiple story arcs to follow, it must either be tightly interwoven or given time to expand character development. While I never found it boring, it felt a little long at times for one sitting. Doing it in 3 or 4 hours might allowed time to tell more of the backstory of the main characters and flesh out the minor ones more. The acting was great and honestly the scene with doctor being chased up the stairs was actual quite comical! And Zach Galifinakis brings some understated levity to his role. Beautifully filmed as well, not to mention a fun dive into the world of "crazes", which have been around for hundreds of years.
