Hitchcoc This has become a bit of a cult film; hence you are charmed by it or find it utterly worthless. I made it through the thing, but fore me, I couldn't abide the troll. This does have its roots in many possession movies, like Poltergeist, where people try to live their daily lives in a horror house. It does have a decent plot and fairly decent special effects. Michael Moriarity is one of my favorite actors, going back to his solid role as a German SS man in the "Holocaust" made for TV movie. And, of course, Bang the Drum Slowly. He must have been desperate for cash when he signed on for this.
maxcarnage This movie is not terrible but not that good to me it is just a wacky 80's horror/comedy/fantasy some of the parts i liked was the creativity what other movie had magic trolls for villains and the setting of the movie I liked. The things i did not like at all were some plot holes and the ending. The ending was pointing to a sequel by the policemen finding a troll this ending was fine but what i didn't like was how they didn't follow it in trolls 2.The plot holes were a little confusing but not really that important. this movie was just a product of its time and will probably be A forgotten relic of the 80's that no one will remember. In conclusion this movie in not terrible and i would suggest for people to watch it if they like corny 80's movies and people who like 80's cinema.
Michael_Elliott Troll (1986)* (out of 4)Parents (Michael Moriarty, Shelley Hack) move their children Harry Potter (Noah Hathaway) and Wendy Ann (Jenny Beck) into a new apartment where soon the daughter is taken possession by a troll who then goes on a killing spree turning people into plants.TROLL has become a rather notorious movie over the years, although it still falls well short of its sequel. I must admit that watching this GREMLINS rip-off today is probably slightly more entertaining than when it was originally released because of the campy factor that comes along with "Harry Potter" battling these trolls. Yes, that name is now legendary so hearing it here adds some laughs throughout the film.In the 1980s there were countless rip-offs of GREMLINS but I doubt too many would argue the fact that CRITTERS was the best of the bunch. There were films like TROLL and GHOULIES that tried to mix horror and comedy with a child-like fantasy but those are examples that didn't work and although there are some decent things to be found here, there's still no question that TROLL is a pretty bad movie. The biggest problem I have with this film is that it seems to be in between a rock and a hard place. On one hand it wants to be a horror film but at the same time it wants to be family friendly so it's pretty much stuck in a middle ground and it can't do anything right there. The horror and fantasy elements don't go far enough for horror fans to be entertained and I'd say that the film is at least "far enough" to where kids aren't going to be entertained. The silly nature of the film doesn't help matters and some of the special effects are quite laughable. At the same time the troll creatures do look pretty good and they're at least mildly entertaining. The film's best quality is the cast, which are at least fun to watch. Moriarty and Hack are both fun to watch in their roles and I thought Beck was good enough for this type of film. Sonny Bono gets the best moments in his small role.
oscar-35 *Spoiler/plot- 1986, People move into a new apartment with a little girl. The girl gets mixed up in a supernatural plot where a troll wishes to take over into the real world. Only at the end, does the troll lose when the apartment neighbors band together and use mystical powers to put things right. *Special Stars- Sonny Bono, June Lockhart, Shelley Hack, Julia Louis-Dreyfus *Theme- Maybe the faeries and trolls can influence your life. *Based on- Occult and faerie myths*Trivia/location/goofs-This fantasy film takes place in modern San Francisco's apartment house. The film is notable for the many TV actor's early working and casting in the film's major roles. *Emotion- A somewhat forgettable film that was swamped in the rush to cash-in theater tickets during the 80's sci-fi films crush.
