This movie is actually very good....Chris Rock is epic at delivering his one-liner's through out this as though he's in standup mode, it's well shot, its funny and has a hint of NYC-esque Woody Allen moments throughout...It deals well with reality TV crap behind the scenes and has epic cameo's from Jerry Seinfeld to Tracy Morgan, some references will get lost on you if you don't have a basic understanding of African American history and Hip Hop but I can honestly say Chris Rock is very good as is most of the cast...Haters gonna hate but then check how many other negative reviews they do....I bought this on DVD...!More of these I say...:)

I am sorry but you don't cast a hilarious man like Chris Rock in a movie where he tries to be serious and not funny. That's like casting Jim Carey in a Shakespearian tragedy. It does not work. I did not laugh a single time because Chris was not allowed to be his funny goofy self except for maybe a few moments. Going to the movies is a special treat and it should not be wasted on films like this. Tickets are also expensive just for this trash of a film. It is also an insult to black people's intelligence by having the score be nothing but hip hop. No one should have to watch this because it says it's a comedy when there is nothing funny at all about it. Even the trailers for this were not funny. I am again sorry but movies like this that exploit people culturally and insult their intelligence, culture, and music without being funny but just a cash in makes me furious.

Still while Stand Up comedians have a tough time translating onto the big screen, this is a pretty decent effort. Helped by the ever beautiful and talented Rosario Dawson. The fact that Chris Rock kind of plays himself helps too. Why they chose the title is explained during the running time of the movie, though you'd still expect this to have a different title than what characters ask themselves (list wise). The jokes keep coming and the viewer is like a spectator of "reality TV show". That's how it feels, but in a good sense. As in "a day in the life of ...". And he even does a short stand up routine. There's bonus material of that in the extras of the Disc. Not the best comedy there is, but more than a decent effort

This movie was not very funny for me, most of the jokes are tired and the plot is barely existent. It does have it's moments where it's somewhat funny but that's like every 10 minutes or so leaving like 9 minutes of you wondering when you are going to laugh or let's be realistic; chuckle again. The script is also absolutely self-absorbed and self-indulgent, it's clear to see that Chris Rock is playing a version of himself, and in the movie we get to see him struggling being rich and famous and having to deal with bad critics and people asking him for photos and 'friends' asking him for money cause he got millions, boy what a tough life.I usually like Chris Rock's comedies CB4, POOTIE TANG and BEVERLY HILLS NINJA for instance are some of my favorite comedies PERIOD, but this is not the same kind of comedy I suppose. So yeah for me this is definitely Bottom Five Chris Rock movies, and I've seen most of them... If the Hammy movies were real I'm sure even they would be funnier...
