Tromafreak Nevermind, he's dead, anyway. A better question would be, who was Buckalew? Yet, an even better question would be, what was wrong with this man? I've heard things like, Buckalew was given credit for certain embarrassments, that other directors didn't want on their resume, which makes me wonder, whether or not Buckalew had anything at all to do with this particular embarrassment. As if it matters. In the early 70's, someone, possibly Buckalew, directed a hand full of soft-core, Hixploitation epics, that weren't necessarily funny for soft-core standards, or even B-movie standards, it's just that, they aren't what you would expect. Anyway, this is one of them. Tobacco Roody is about a back-woods family, not unlike The Beverly Hillbillies, who do pretty much nothing but get laid. Well, they also drink a lot of Moonshine. Mose loves his daughters a lot, but he loves his adopted daughter, Tootie, just a little more. Even the wife is OK. Tootie's sisters hate her because she gets all the attention, so no one will play with her. Not to worry, Tootie, Mose knows you're special. Meanwhile, the real daughters have found their own specialness, with each other, in the creek, as well as the barn, and the wife, Liz (who looks no older than the daughters) is busy "paying the rent." Somewhere in between the sex sessions, and drinkin' sessions, they manage to squeeze in a little dialog, which turns out to be the most entertaining part. Come to think of it, this is exactly what you would expect. I actually didn't realize this was a full-blown, soft-core porn. I thought Tobacco Roody just sounded like a funny B-movie, which happened to have a few sex scenes, but this one, pretty much, has one purpose. As far as soft-core porn goes, this is still an improvement over what they put out these days. As far as B-movies go, Tobacco Roody can be hilarious, at times, especially if you've been drinking. For more half-ass, hick-porn, check out Southern Comforts (on the same DVD.) Recommended to... I guess, anyone who can't get enough soft-core. I realize, this one doesn't deserve a very high rating, but somehow, I feel compelled to give 'ol Buckalew (or whoever) a break, probably has something to do with the constant nudity. 7/10
Alexander_Keith It must be...I caught the better part of the flick just a couple of moments ago on the Drive-In network and it wasn't very coherent; but neither am I after enjoying a few Keith's after a hard week's work @ 4 in the morning. It was just a kaleidoscope of flesh, moonshine and hillbilly fiddling and had me laughing more often than not. Taken in as the 2nd bill of a midnight movie (deciding if I'm going to stay up for The Pigkeeper's Daughter that has just started or go to bed) it's was worth catching. Even if I fall asleep on the couch after I finish typing the satisfactory amount of lines for this IMDb entry I'm sure it will be of memories of thirsty hill folk loving that sweet mountain dew and dancing until they're hungry.
anthonycwhittle You can always count on Something Weird Video when your in the mood for some sleazy delights from the saucy days of the 70's. There is no story here, there is just flesh and more flesh. Wonton nudity is ubiquitous throughout this raunchy ride that has all the lascivious beauty's running amok.
