Synopsis

When a pirate version of the most popular - first person shooter video game lands in the hands of Matt and Jimmy, they immediately think it's the coolest video game they have ever played. Little do they know that what seems to be their favourite video game is actually an evil recruiting device to turn selected kids into real Time Warriors, at the service of "The Lord of War": an evil character behind every war since the beginning of time.

Richard Kreuter This movie is actually really good for such a low budget film. Lots of action and suspense - and the CG graphics were excellent. I wish there was more of it. The movie felt like it was leading up to something big - maybe we will find out if they make a sequel. The movie is actually very interpretive too and I love movies like that. My wife and I are still talking about it - how the dream flashbacks fit into the story and what it meant when the smoke left Matt's friends body - I'm thinking his friend was in a way possessed? I'm going to watch it again to see if there is any foreshadowing that I didn't pick up the first time. Anyway, I love that the ending left it open for a sequel - or even a trilogy? We are looking forward to the next one!
JR The acting, the writing, and even the storyline are all AMATEUR. This actually looks like some student's high school or film school class project rather than a professional film. It never should have been released to rental stores. As a learning project for some film student I give it a 2.5. I didn't give it a zero because I reserve that for epic films like: ----> "Birdemic: Shock and Terror". The storyline appears to have been written after a bad night hitting the bottle or something. If there was a real novel or story used to base this on it was hacked apart by the writer(s) in the worst way. The actors appear to have either been rejects from the regular studios or maybe first timers who someone convinced that acting does not require any training, experience or school. The filming looks like an advanced video system of which the quality was the only thing that approach average quality in the whole thing. One more thing, watch the SWAT team's sight discipline as they approach the house in a ragged line of errors. Watch the LASER aim points dancing around all over the other SWAT Team members backs, indicating they have just aimed their loaded rifles at the other officers. VERY Professional indeed! I expected to hear "Car 54, Car 54 where are you?" on their radios at any moment or maybe one of the officers calling out "Officer Tootie respond please." The only good point in the entire movie, to me anyway, was when the blond hero shaved his head and actually looked like a real kid underneath. I guess I was expecting a hydra of something to pop out. However by then I had lost all interest in the story, or lost track of it anyway. As I said before, this movie should never have been set out for rental, I intend to ask for a refund.
Paul Magne Haakonsen There was just very little enjoyable about this movie. And what little there was, was hardly enough to even remotely keep the movie afloat. The storyline in "Time Warrior" is about two boys who play a seemingly pirated console game titled Time Warrior: Dark World. And by pledging their souls to the game, they become enlisted by the Lord of War to serve as his soldiers. It was really hard to buy into the movie and its storyline, especially because the acting was wooden and forced, and the storyline itself was just so far fetched. And the game was so out of tune, especially since the game didn't at all react to the movement of the controller when the boys were playing the game. And worse yet, the physics of the game was so bad; in the game the gun would be pointing at one target and shoot, but it would be targets to the far left of the screen that would fall down and die. And yet, these boys were so fascinated with the game, all worked up over the gameplay and its graphics. Right...As for the people on the cast list, well they weren't particularly impressive in their acting, and the result was wooden, forced and staggering. And it was really hard to take the Matt character serious that the helmet of hair on his head. Also, for some reason then there was being shown random clips of things that had absolutely nothing to do with the movie itself, and stuff that did nothing to further the story of the movie in the least."Time Warrior" was, I am sure, a well enough intended attempt at a movie, but the end result was just overly bad. And the only thing that the movie really had working for it was that the armor of this Time Warrior actually looked quite good and was nicely made.
scotty1176 Okay so the summary pretty much sums it up. Had this move had a real budget, or the money that was actually spent on the film been put into better CG and actors it would have been a hit.It has a great plot which has not been overdone, however it does drag some in the beginning. If you are going to have a good guy, let him be good and show more of what he is capable of doing rather than running away, let him own the role.Had this been budgeted properly with better graphics and acting I would have given it a better rating. If there is to be a followup, which I hope there is, the producers need the aforementioned items.
