Bad acting especially the lead and scenes cutting so abruptly got on my nerves. Some scenes never seemed to have continuation and very often were were confused. Although the group coloc is quite good.....is dedicating a film to dedé fortin a real necessity......Na. The only Quebec's film that i adore is CRAZY....others are just plain passable or boring. Nothing about this movie...acting storyline scenery is exciting....really hated it. i think the best actor of the whole bunch was the guy who played Mike...he was real and quite good...as for the female actresses they were plain bland and not worthy of being noticed. WONDER if the film was a hit...didn't hear much about it.

I liked this film, very touching, yet I have a few reservations. But Sébastien Ricard is really terrific as Dédé. I'm always very critical of details (the beginning is too slow, some shots are ugly and should have been left out, Ricard can't ski, etc.) but overall it does not hinder my appreciation of the whole. The music is what makes this movie work so well. Being about a musician, I suppose it's the least we should expect, but in this case it really takes us on an emotional trip and forces a new understanding of lyrics and melodies the fans of Les Colocs have heard countless times before.I'm just a bit disappointed because it could have been so much more powerful had the editing been tighter, some dialogues reworked or omitted. There are moments of pure cinematographic poetry in this film. It is reminiscent of Jean-Claude Lauzon at times. But this crazy touch is quickly put aside (safe for a scene at the hospital) for no apparent reasons. I'm happy with the overall result, but also a bit sad that I didn't get to see the film it could have been, given that all the ingredients were obviously there!

A movie about artistic creation, friendship, heartbreak, and the circle of life. As a fan of the Colocs, I was able to overcome some bad editing in the first half, and some overall scripting problems. The final effect is that of a great story about yet another doomed idealist artist. What really stood out for me was the very above average performances of the three main actors Dédé, Pat and Mike. The acting performances were eerily good.As we are moved back in forth in time from recordings of the last album to flashbacks of the band's first years, we are permitted to enter the realm of creation and the emotions driving the written word.I'm not sure non Coloc fans will enjoy the long bits, and technically the film could have been better. But it is a story that is worth telling, about people who live their dreams, albeit for too short a time.
