Thirteen is a 2003 drama that stars Holly Hunter and follows her coping as a mother to maintain the new and disrespectful personality of her daughter after entering into the wrong friend zone, filled with sex, petty crime and drugs. Thirteen sounded like a enjoyable watch at the time and when i finally watched my DVD, I was slowly more and more hooked to the reality on the screen, although, me being a teenager, knows that the style in this movie as CRINGY AS HELL, this film is so true and has happened before and is still happening all over the world, kids have a dream to be someone they don't even know themselves so they can be accepted in life only to be let down more then they already were, I have actually seen it before and experienced it a couple of times myself, the acting, dialogue and pace is so well done and actors like Holly Hunter, Jeremy Sisto and Nikki Reed totally steal the sha. It's just so painful and shocking to think that a sweet girl like the main girl in the film can actually change that much into a disrespectful, punk, foul mouth attituded teenager. Thirteen is a very educational film for parents who think they're children are acting like they never did before. 10/10! Ps. I'm back!!

The movie perfectly showed a very common problem in todays society - peer pressure destroying a life of a girl, who was alright at first, but after meeting ''the popular'' girl Evie her life rapidly went downhill. People with weak characters can easily be influenced like this, completely destroying their relationships with the family and/or close friends, just to look cool in the eyes of the cool kids.It was clearly visible that Tracy is emotionally weak and that she is going to be easily manipulated by her new friend Evie, who was into drugs, alcohol etc., despite her very young age (13). When things got tough Evie was quick to get the blame onto Tracy, despite their strong friendship, well at least Tracey thought it was a great friendship. The movie didn't have that many action as you would expect from a movie of this type, it played more on the relationship between Tracy and her mother, showing that Tracy completely ignored her mother, being blatantly blindfolded and manipulated by her new best friend. Sadly that is a very common problem today, apparently it was more than 12 years ago, when the movie was released."Thirteen" is worth seeing just for the excellent performances of Evan Rachel Wood, Nikki Reed and Holly Hunter, all three of the main characters showed strong acting throughout the movie and that is what was the most impressive about it, the movie didn't have any memorable moments or outstanding scenes, but it had great performance by the actresses throughout, nonetheless.

I've seen this movie twice. It's one of those films that's very entertaining, but not for its intended reasons. It's one of these teen "awareness" movies that tries to scare parents into getting irrational ideas about their own children. However, it fails miserably on account of the story and the characters being completely unrealistic. The story goes that there's a thirteen-year-old girl who does well in school and apparently has a good, moral upbringing despite her family being comically dysfunctional even from the beginning. However, she meets another seventh grader who happens to be the exact representation of what parents don't want their daughters to become. She falls into peer pressure (of course) and starts shoplifting, cursing (oh my), and of course doing drugs. Yes, it's quite cliché when it comes to her downfall. The interesting part comes while she's in this stage, which is when the comedy really begins. I think a huge problem is that it seems very implausible for a seventh grader to be doing most of what she does in this movie. I won't even bother listing everything, but I'll just say it would have been a completely different experience if the girls were maybe, 16.I mentioned the dysfunctional family, which is really an understatement. The girl's mother is possibly the worst mother I've ever seen, and the entire family is really just completely insane it seems. The family is another huge blow the film's realism. It actually reminded me a bit of Visitor Q, hence the title. It's definitely a major exaggeration, but the fact that this would even bring that movie to my mind shows what I'm talking about.Still though, it's entertaining to watch just because of how ridiculous everything is. There's certainly nothing to get out of its message, but watching the family deal with all this stuff at once is mildly entertaining. I'd recommend watching it as a comedy-drama. But actually, Visitor Q is probably even better for that, so just see that instead.
