hajime_no_ippo Emily browning is excellent in this movie and the rest of the cast are good too.Its a good mystery/horror movie to watch any day.
johntncd89 The only good thing I can say about this movie is Elizabeth Banks, but that still doesn't help this film out at all. She should just stick with comedy and what she is good at because after seeing this, horror is definitely not her strong suit. And the two girls that played the sisters were just horrible actors. I watched this with my girlfriend and every scene I could call out what was going to happen next and 99% of the time I was right. Other than them, the plot points had nothing to do with each other and this movie made no sense at all.. Horrible movie. The 40 year old virgin was more scary than this. Do not watch unless you want to be disappointed.....
Nuno Cunha I haven't seen that many scary movies, but one thing I know for sure. This movie is not a scary one. Suspense maybe, but not scary.About this movie: from the beginning you understand that the stepmother was not the one that made that happen. You might not know for sure, but you clearly understand that Rachel was not responsible, at least not alone (I thought Alex - Anna's sister - was also responsible for the fire). I mean, there are SO many clues and not even small ones, you start to guess that the authors want you to think Rachel did it, so you start to think otherwise. There are some good things on the movie though: for instance, I never thought Alex was dead on the fire as well, but after that revelation it makes sense: she never talks to anyone except Anna, and when she is talking to the father, he doesn't respond (and Anna is watching, so makes sense). The end was not predictable: I didn't thought Anna was going to murder her stepmother and end again in the mental Hospital. However, once she returns, you understand that the other pacient is related to the story (and in fact it is). On the other hand, as soon Anna reads her name in the internet (thinking that must be Rachel), that should have made a "click" on her mind... She must have read that name before I'm assuming. PS: I didn't understand the relation between the name of the movie and the movie itself...
Python Hyena The Uninvited (2009): Dir: Charles Guard, Thomas Guard / Cast: Emily Browning, Elizabeth Banks, David Strathairn, Arielle Kebbel, Jesse Moss: Standard horror film that can be interpreted in two ways during a second viewing. Title can reference either the fiancé or a daughter home fresh from an asylum after witnessing her mother's death. Once home she struggles to adapt to her father's fiancé whom she believes is responsible for numerous murders. Directed by Charles and Thomas Guard with great visual appeal. Emily Browning holds strong as she struggles to deal with issues that landed her in the asylum as well as her current life outside it. Needless to say that Browning makes great use of the third act plot twist. Elizabeth Banks plays the fiancé who was also their mother's nurse before her passing. She struggles in disciplining Browning, not realizing the brutal plot against her. David Strathairn plays naive father whose presence is to not believe any claim made against Banks. The role is completely useless. Arielle Kebbel plays rebellious sister who assists Browning in incriminating Banks. Kebbel also brings forth an interesting plot twist of her own. Jesse Moss plays Browning's old boyfriend who has witnessed some plot points regarding her mother. Pointless hokey horror film that is visually well made in a way that will likely be deemed invited by horror fans only. Score: 4 ½ / 10
