A movie with no real villains, just victims. Good acting.

After reading the critic reviews for this film, I was not expecting much at all. However I decided to give it a watch in my spare time and it was definitely worth it. Kaya (whom I have adored ever since skins) although sticking to the "troubled teen" stereotype she is often cast in, delivered a believable and well rounded performance. The script came together very well, and the story arcs in a way which I did not expect, and the film is then carried through by strong acting performances from both Kaya and Jessica, allowing the viewer to really witness and experience the emotions of these characters and the experiences through which they have suffered. My only criticism would be that occasionally the "Claude" storyline felt a but forced and unnecessary, but a wonderful film none the less. If you enjoy slower burning films that pay off such as 'now is good' or 'the virgin suicides' this film is definitely down your alley.

5 stars for the stunning actresses and one for being ingenious. There is so much potential between the two main characters to develop an intimate relationship (which was also hinted on by the stepmother). But then the movie lifts the obvious awkwardness into the realm of the realistic, destroying the ingenuity and art of the script. Making it just like any other movie.Personally I believe they should just give up on conveying new ideas for the purpose of mainstream entertainment. It just doesn't work. Either you do something great and many will not comprehend it, or you do something average and many will empathize. If the directors had any sense of mainstream creativity, they would have simply cloned the actresses. Like in the Resident Evil series. Many Milla Jovovich > one Milla Jovovich. Many Jessica Biel > one Jessica Biel. It is basic algebra. Though, the main character girl looked pretty attractive too, but the stepmother not really. At least there could be twins. I mean, come on!

Softness, quiescence, mellow and dull, this movie builds towards a breaking point.Emanuel, a young woman whose mother died in child birth is still haunted by the absence. Longing, hurt inside, she forms a connection with a new next door neighbor named Linda (played by Jessica Biel). Can't spoil the movie, but Linda and Emanuel are connected by loss.We need one another, we love one another and sometimes, the bereavement even if we never got to truly know that lost one, is so strong it breaks our hearts, minds, souls, and future. We find ourselves surrounded by water, drowning and watching our love fall deeper and get carried away by the current.I enjoyed this movie.Kaya Scodelario carried the movie and Jessica Biel delivered in a believable way.Written and Directed by Francesca Gregorini, I didn't have any complaints with the script and felt there was a great pace and rhythm to the movie, supported nicely with music.
