Bob Taylor My pleasure with these Globe on Screen videos continues. This production of the Tempest is so rooted in Jacobean stage-craft that it makes me wonder that directors ever bothered with modern dress productions, or gimmicky stage effects. I can forget about Peter Greenaway and the other people who have mauled this play.Jeremy Herrin, director and Max Jones, designer have done a fine job of bringing the play alive. Roger Allam is an excellent Prospero, Joshua James and Jessie Buckley are very appealing as the lovers, and Trevor Fox makes a funny Trinculo in a clown's hat. There is singing, dancing and musicians on stage who perform wonderfully. I'm going to order this one.
