Alan Smithee Esq. Starts with a fresh and unique premise but slowly...It's clever and it's horrific but the outcome is not the best pay off that it could have been. Jessica Biel who I would say is a very so-so actress is rather good in her performance. I really liked the first half of the movie and didn't see many of the twists coming but I couldn't help but feel a little disappointed once I'd reached the conclusion. It's overall a better than average horror flick but there's lots of better ones out there (and even more that are worse).
The Couchpotatoes First of all my wife wasn't a big fan of this movie. Not enough explanations for her and I get that but all in all I thought The Tall Man was original as a story. This story has never been told before and for that it gets some credit from me. It's nicely filmed with enough dark passages, twists and intrigues to keep you interested. It's not a horror movie though. A thriller yes but certainly not a horror movie. The cast is good with good performances, nothing bad to say about them. I liked the fact that I thought I figured it out completely but that at the end I was completely wrong. I like movies that can surprise me. Nothing more boring then a movie where you know exactly what's going to happen next. And that's not the case with The Tall Man at all.
Paul Magne Haakonsen I was lured in by the DVD cover of this movie. It seemed interesting and a movie named "The Tall Man" couldn't possibly be all that bad when it has Jessica Biel in it. But wow, was I wrong. This is without a doubt one of the most boring and uneventful movies that I have sat through. While the movie starts out alright, it quickly takes a turn for the worse. And when it is revealed what is going on, the movie was fast down a steep hill with no chance of recovery. The story is about a dying town named Cold Rock where children are mysteriously disappearing and never seen again. Local myths tells of a dark secret, a tall man who takes away the children of the families. It was unbelievable that a movie could be so slow paced. It was like sitting through a movie that lasted a week. And the people on the cast list had very Little to work with in terms of script and direction. There are two reasons why I don't rate this movie a mere one out of ten stars, and that is the production value of the movie and the performance put on by Jessica Biel."The Tall Man" is a snoozefest of epic proportions, and has any worth only if you are a die-hard fan of Jessica Biel.
chun li From a technical standpoint, its professionally made. Audio sounds particularly impressive. That said, the story is a whole load of nothing. Jessica Biel is attractive.*warning, massive spoiler alert coming up* The most unexpected member of the community, an attractive nurse (Jessica Biel) is involved in the taking of children from underprivileged families and allowing them to lead a better life with wealthy people. All the while, the families of the missing children put the disappearances down to a mystery character called the Tall Man, who is believed to live in the woods. The nurse believes, by doing what she is doing, she is breaking the cycle of white trash having children only for them to grow up and turn into white trash and have children. How this film got the green light remains a mystery. It's estimated budget was $18,200,000. A figure obtained from IMDb. There's no way this film could have made it's money back.2/10
