I saw the Still Life at the Cackalaky Film Festival an I must say that I was thoroughly impressed. The performances were powerful, authentic an organic. The story engaging. The look unique and the best: the sound track kick ass! I mean com'on! You will not find Indies today with music from Delaney Bramlett, Doug Carrion, Dean Dinning, Peter Finestone, Eddie Hedges, Sonny Mone, Matthew Nelson, Louise Post, Dizzy Reed, Darius Rucker, Dave "The Snake" Sabo & Adrian Young!!! But then, I heard the filmmaker (Joel Miller) speak and it all made sense. He used to be a roadie for these guys and asked them all to participate in the film. It was like going to a concert. Amazing! I also really enjoyed the plot. A great concept. There is great philosophy in it. Art is great only once you destroy it.I highly recommend this film and look forward to the next one from Mr. Miller.Thank God he didn't think he had to destroy this film to make it great so we can all enjoy it! A+

I had no idea what to expect when I was invited to see this film. Wow, I was pleasantly surprised!! Its a tragic but inspiring story that takes you along on the intense journey of following your art to the dark place it may lead, and of the ways this effects your life, relationships and the art you produce. Beautifully shot, well written and unpredictable. The performances are raw and open which fulfills the story beautifully. Also full of unexpected (and fantastic) cameo appearances. I don't want to spoil the surprises, but I will say that everyone should see this film. I can't wait to see it again.
