First, I will give the director credit for making this film genuinely look and feel like it was from 1981. I actually found it hard to believe its a 2012 movie. So, kudos to him for that. However, I am sorry to say that this movie was NOT at all scary. It was actually pretty dull and nothing original. No character building, no explanation for anything that was happening. I can forgive low budget movies if there is actual suspense and scary scenes, but there was none to be found here. I think if this really was 1981, I may have enjoyed this film immensely, but having seen thousands of horror movies over the years, I guess I have really raised my standards.

this movie is really really bad.... some examples : *if the killer kills someone you don't see how he kills someone you only see a knife and a sec. later you see someone laying dead on the ground. *fake because in the last scenes a girl runs away for the killer and if you see them run you must laugh because it is so fake and in the movie he chopped a head of and when you see the head laying on the ground you wanna stop the movie that head was definitely super fake..... i have seen a lot horror movies in my life and i am a collector. but if i was you i should not watch this movie.... greets Sven i hope you like this comment and if you don't follow my advice that will be an horrible mistake.

The Sleeper is one of the WORST movies I've ever seen! Everything about is horrible ...... lame acting, bad script, non-existent explanations. It's almost as if some child wrote the script and directed the movie! Even if it was a low budget movie, it's no excuse for it to be so awful. A lot of girls and boys die, but no one in the community even discovers any of the bodies even if some of them are in public places. There's not even a single bit of info on the killer's past or why he kills. There is no redeeming feature in the movie at all. If you watch it till the end, you might even feel like throwing rotten tomatoes or rotten eggs at the screen! Giving even 1/10 is an act of mercy.

this had all the elements to be a great homage to the 80's but it fails because the acting is god awful and the effects couldn't touch what they did in the 80's with movies like The Prowler and The Burning don't get me wrong i really wanted to love this movie and couldn't wait to see it especially the old school VHS/DVD packaging the movie came in but i was disappointed on so many levels i think it was trying to copy the same element as Slumber Party Massacre but at least those movies had semi decent acting as opposed to the horrible stiff acting in The Sleeper,i'm still very interested to see what the director will offer in the future he had a decent grindhouse homage with Deathstop Holocaust that wasn't bad at all
