Synopsis

A decade has passed in the small town where the original Sandlot gang banded together during the summer of ’62 to play baseball and battle the Beast. SnoopyStyle It's 1972, 10 years after the original movie. A new group of kids play at the Sandlot. Johnnie is the little brother of the original's Scott Smalls. He's launching a rocket when David Durango and his friends confront him. He almost burns the dugout down and only saved by Hayley Goodfarier living next to the Sandlot. Later, Hayley and her two girl friends dare to show up on the field. David faces off against her underhand pitching and they decide to join forces. When the ball goes over the wall, Johnnie recounts The Great Fear. There is a nostalgic love for the original which is always going to be trouble for any sequel. This is essentially mission impossible. The original has a timeless perfection which this one struggles with. The addition of girls is an interesting turn. It's fun to twist the "You play like a girl" insult. The sense of time and place is not quite up to snuff. The small contained coming-of-age world is lost to some degree. The kiss at the carnival is the first good moment although the tag at the plate should have been a dropped ball. As it stands, it's simply a hard play and not a dirty play. Samantha Burton is not a natural actress. It's obvious she's there for her ball skills and she's also pretty cute. The acting from the kids are uneven but they do kinda grow on me. The cat claw contraption is hilariously childlike. It's reminiscent of the original but inferior. This could be a lot worse.
David Durango I can't help but wonder if this film was intended as a joke... If it was it's own movie, completely unrelated to the original Sandlot, which was one of the greatest kids movies ever made enjoyed by children and adults alike all around the world and continues to be to this day, then this would not be an issue. But this embarrassment is actually an attempt at a sequel, and where it lacks in quality it makes up for with unsuccessful humor and cheese. If you grew up watching The Sandlot, and you love it, do not watch this, it will only upset you. They could have called this movie ANYTHING, and they pick The Sandlot 2? WHY. Anyway, here are the reason's why it is vile and why I disliked it: A) The acting is terrible. The characters are bland, robotic, unfunny, and completely uninteresting. It's extremely difficult to look past the terrible acting and poor writing to at least enjoy the story, which is our next issue... B) The story just flat out sucks. It is as if all the kids in this movie were handed a camera by a random adult and a copy of The Sandlot, and were told to make an exact copy without producing copyright infringement. I strongly believe that was the situation and this is the result. C) The story also has some fairly large loop holes. For example, 10 years later here we are at the sandlot again. With Scotty's little brother whom is in the 4th grade. Which would make him roughly 10 years old. Which means their mother would have been pregnant and in the process of having him in the summer of 1962 when the first sandlot took place. There were no indications of that in the first one, and even if he was conceived during that time, he wouldn't be in the 4th grade. Also I believe the character of Johnny Smalls was modeled after Marcie from Peanuts (Charlie Brown). I feel a lot better after letting this off my chest, so I think I'll wrap this up. Terrible movie. Director should be smacked 12 times, for that is how long the world existed as it should have stayed, without this steaming pile of turd in existence. On a different note, if you haven't seen The Sandlot, go ahead and watch this one! It's worth the laugh. Trust me, you will laugh at it. And you WILL NOT relive the magic of the original Sandlot, as stated on the cover. Another back hand to the director for that. Good day
liggles Yes! It's not the same or as good as the first but surely it's a kids movie? My daughter loved it just as much as the first and that's what counts to me! She isn't gonna sit and pick about the acting, actors or storyline...... It is what it is! Get over it everyone who whines about it, one day, you too will have kids...... ;). I find it slightly sad that so many nostalgic adults are complaining, are you really for real? This is an enjoyable and light hearted movie to watch with your kids! They can't remember the original and if shown back to back then don't care! I'be had a great afternoon watching all 3 back to back.... Try it lol
hunterdobert This is the worst movie of all time hands down. First of all the jokes are so stupid and make no sense. If you haven't watched this movie than don't are you will be sorry.I also feel sorry for people that haved watched this movie. This is offense to the first sandlot.I almost stopped watching the movie halfway though it and I have never done that with any other movie I watched.Who ever made this movie should be put in jail because thats how bad this movie is.The actors sucked I think I could do a better job.The only way I would watch this movie again is if someone gave me a billion dollars. It wasn't even a sequel because it was the same plot of the first sandlot but this one was just terrible and got the worst actors possible and the jokes sucked.
