cmovies-99674 PROS: The movie was intense at times.CONS: The teen scream acting along with a terrible plot and you get this movie. I get that sometime a teen scream feel is helpful, like with the movie TELL ME HOW I DIE, but this movie didn't need it. Time and time again I expected for the characters to be something memorable, they weren't. The worst thing was how cliché the movie was though. There was nothing new, nothing creative. It felt like I was watching every bad movie I saw being put into one. There were so many things that just didn't add up and then you were left confused on why this was even a horror movie to begin with, because there was nothing truly terrifying in it nor was there anything keeping you invested. At any point in the movie I could've walked away and not regretted a thing because by the time the first 15 minutes pass I already knew I was in for a s*** show.www.chorror.com
Danii Disaster I did like this movie... back in 1992, when it was called "Single White Female". As for the blatant rip-off called "The Roommate"... urgh, one word: unoriginal. One more word: boring. Oh, and one more: predictable. When you watch the original "Single White Female", you feel that this is something that could really happen to someone in real life. The original was suspenseful and realistic. When you watch *this* (The Roommate)... well, I'm willing to bet anything that a story like this has never, and would never, happened in real life. It's just not believable. And there's zero suspense. They just took the excellent "Single White Female" (a suspenseful thriller) and made a dumbed-down PG version for kids in their early teens of it. That's all there is to it.If you want to see a real female-stalks-female story, watch "Single White Female". Or even the sequel - "Single White Female 2: The Psycho". If you've seen it/them already, don't bother watching "The Roommate", as it's nothing more than a rip-off of the above two titles, created for retards (or very young kids). If you're not one, you, most certainly, won't be impressed.Oh, and by the way, the acting was atrocious.Whoever produced the script for this movie, should just retire. It was pathetic. Man, it is blatantly obvious that s/he ripped-off "Single White Female", but what kind of idiot can't even *copy* someone else's work properly? They copied the unimportant elements, but left the important ones out. Jeez, what a moron. In the original movie ("Single White Female"), the stalker takes her obsession further by copying the lead's physical appearance, also with an agenda to frame her. But in The Roommate this part is replaced with... Oh, please! A tattoo of someone else's dead sister's name? She was supposed to be a dangerous, cunning, smart sociopath, not a clinically retarded looney.Oh, and I saw someone mention that the only reason to watch this are the "hot" lead actresses. Right. Well, first of all, they aren't actresses. They are pathetic amateurs. And... a butt-chin and a plain Jane? "Hot" indeed! In my humble opinion, this movie was not necessary at all. A waste of time and money.
rockypadilla415 I find Minka Kelly and Leighton Meester extremely gorgeous!! Does anybody else agree? But I do think the movie could have been a little better, longer. The Roommate can't be taken seriously. For all Meester's genuine efforts, it's basically moronic games with the mentally ill. But it also misses the opportunity to go for broke, into a zone of full-tilt trash that might at least have been some fun. There are some interestingly nasty moments and some chills, but it's predictable and derivative.
erykah8402 whoever in the review pool mention that a 4th grade student wrote this is crazy. It ha a handful of twists to the movie. It was a true thriller in my eyes an yes, I happen to jump a few times. The acting was pretty great. No one seem out of place. However, I now have a new insight on people with mental issues. I mean you never know who is battling this n' the movie zeros in on this. schizophrenia is serious n' I think that's what makes this movie interesting because people battling this can POSSIBLY act like Rebecca.I love Sara's love interest in the movie because its as if he saves the moment. I fin myself looking for him in some scenes to come save Sara. Strange, I know.Overall, I the movie has a big fair shot of tagging along with the other thrillers out there, in my opinion. Maybe I must see other thrillers to have a non interest in this film, but until then, I like the movie!
