THE REZORT is a typical cheap and digital zombie movie, perhaps made with a bit more bloodshed than most in this genre. The plot is somewhat novel and involves a group of characters heading off to a remote island (it's one of the Canary Islands according to the on-screen map) where they're allowed to go around and kill zombies for fun. Inevitably the usual outbreak occurs, with the tables turned and our protagonists now themselves becoming hunted by the living dead. I'm a fan of Dougray Scott but he's on autopilot here, mainly struggling with his American accent, and the rest of the cast are worse. There's plenty of action, though, to take your mind off the familiarity of it all.

After the zombie apocalypse ('The War') killed billions, humanity resurfaced, with only a few remaining zombies left on an island that becomes a shoot-em up zombie theme park, 'The Rezort'.After having been horribly affected by 'The War', our female protagonist goes to the island, hoping to find some kind of catharsis. But of course, we wouldn't have a movie like this if things went all too smoothly. Predictably, there's another zombie outbreak, and our team of "Zafari" goers has to escape the island as soon as possible.THE REZORT is going more for fast-paced action and suspense than gore and horror. It tends to focus on moral issues and the various emotional subplots, but that is precisely where the movie most blatantly fails, mostly because the relatively uninteresting characters are mere caricatures of known stereotypes ("the nerd", "the lone ranger", "the greedy business woman" etc.). and because the acting is not always convincing. However, most disappointingly the action scenes are not shot with a sense of geography, and they are rather hastily edited. That combined with bad CGI makes for an all-in-all mediocre viewing experience. It's a 5 out of 10 for me because it does entertain in the end, but it's a long shot from being a great movie, riddled with flaws on both the story side and the action side.

"The Rezort" has solid production value. The CGI is passable, the camera- work is pretty good, and the acting is fine. It's a British "living dead" pilot clone that would've garnered a series if that were the case. But it's not a great movie. The characters and dialog just don't have the teeth to make this a 7+.It tidy-ups quite nicely. The last 30 minutes is pretty solid, nail-biting action. It makes-up a bit for some of the occasional absurdity, repetitiveness. Dougray Scott's character is criminally under- written/developed, and the film is quite predictable. It's no "Train to Busan" that's for sure. I'd say more on par with the average world War Z with lesser acting, only in this case its not lesser it's just less acting. The female lead does a fine job, as does the cocky kid. It's worth a harmless action/zombie-lovers viewing for the last 30 minutes. There are some genuinely scary and tense moments down the stretch, but the rest is somewhat forgettable. Still a bit better than I expected, and a notch better than its score here. Jmo54/100You'd like this if you liked: Maze Runner(about even or slightly better than this), The Running Man(slightly better), Train to Busan(much better), or Parallels((slightly below).

This is Jurassic World with Zombies. The characters are quite stereotypical so the English brats are real English brats and the morose protagonist is morose all the time. However, compared to Jurassic World, they are at least rational and suit their parts. You don't have a bimbo lady in charge of a billion-dollar park not knowing what to do when things go wrong. Instead you have a fairly dominant and strong woman in charge. The same with most other characters. The makeup and special effects are good and there's nothing that takes away from the fantasy world you're watching. The plot is okay. It's not Swiss cheese like most blockbusters. All in all, a good zombie movie. If they had thrown a few more million dollars on top of it, this would have been excellent.
