Story: cop plans a raid on a building owned by a druglord. 90 minutes of contineous fighting in this building is what follows. "The Raid" is just the ultimate frenzy of violence, performed as if it were a bloodfilled ballet. It feels like a violent ballet because the stuntmen are real life fighters and the fight scenes are choreographed very realistically. Even after 5 times watching it I am still amazed by the beauty of the fighting scenes and shocked by the cruelties committed."The Raid" is unlike any other action movie I have ever witnessed in decades. This must be watched only by adults. Really NOT suited for the faint hearted, becasue the violence is so real and gruesome. "The Raid" is 90 minutes of a rollercoaster ride filled with blood and death. But despite all the violence there is still a good story to be found amongst the piles of dead bodies. It is not just a brainless fight movie. It really has got a heart in its story. And the acting is very convincing and real life like too. I will never forget those faces full of fear and hate of these actors. Brilliantly casted and performed. After 5 times rewatching this movie over the years, some fighting scenes stretched a bit too long for my taste: how much contineous violence can one absorb without getting numb? But that's my only small criticism. Would have rated it a 10 otherwise. Now I think this is the almost perfect action movie. 9 stars. Never watched anything like this before in the action movie genre."The Raid" is undoubtedly a new classic!

This movie without a doubt is one of the most exhilarating and exhausting action movies I have ever watched. The action set pieces are incredible and the sheer amount of moves pulled off and blows delivered is truly remarkable. A massive kudos to all those involved behind the scenes and the actors themselves for giving such physical performances. Having said that belief does need suspended as some of the people in this film really do seem indestructible. For me some of the fight scenes towards the end did start to drag for me. It also had all the usual and predictable trappings of most action movies but guess that's hard to escape when doing this style of film. Overall a solid 6/10 and I'd probably watch it again.

Dadgum, this action-packed movie was impressive. The music, pacing, fight choreography--especially the cinematography--all blended into an electrifying experience. There wasn't much plot, as others said, but that didn't detract from the film. I think they used that fact to enhance the film. There were even some unexpected touching moments!I don't know how they could top this, because it's already a whirlwind, roller coaster ride of punches, kicks, and more kicks. Also, knives and guns. And death. By a...door? (That may be a spoiler, however slight, so I forewarned). So give this movie a fighting chance, arm yourself with popcorn, and get ready to kick it. It feels fresh, realistic, and brings the viewer in somehow right in with the characters. I'd compare this phenomenon with Casino Royale, where it feels unscripted, yet you know it is. 8.5 outta 10 (I rounded up I guess, I couldn't decide between 8 & 9 so I went with 9). Enjoy. Oh, and definitely not for kids, it's kinda bloody and sweary (ya know, full of swear words).
