adonis98-743-186503 The Prince is another low budget film that copies half of Taken but it actually kinda works. The acting isn't something good although i loved that twisted Joker laugh of Bruce Willis which he starred in the film in order to take a big paycheck as always also Cusack was good and 50 cent a big waste of time. It had a lot of action, car chases and some cool fight scenes and it kept me entertained not the greatest action film of all time but it was pretty good for a low budget film. I think Bruce Willis fans will enjoy this because even tho he plays the same role as every time he changes in the last 5 minutes of the movie before he gets killed into a crazy bald dude.
GUENOT PHILIPPE Of course, this film is a pure piece of crap. Only an idiot would define it as a masterpiece. But I have always watched a B movie as a B movie, and a grade Z film as a grade Z film. See? For this kind of features, I always put the scale very very low, so that I can't have any deception. Many of people don't proceed this way. They go to see a film without this kind of caution. They can watch such a crap with he same eyes or expectation they would have for a Marty Scorcese or Quentin Tarantino movie. I admit that this film is totally expendable, it deserves the garbage can. BUT I like this film. I like the corny acting, especially from the ever young - as Matt Dillon - Jason Patric, I like the now lousy actor Bruce Willis - since more than fifteen years now, in waiting for his ultimate and swan song DIE HARD 6. I also love the scheme where this evil guy Willis wants to get revenge of his family death, killed by error by the true hero of this film - Patric. I find it surprising and agreeable. That's my own opinion. But this doesn't remove the low quality of this forgettable movie. And I will finish by insisting on the fact that I highly prefer a grade B action flick like ROADHOUSE, for instance, than this crap. I tried to be the fairest possible.
Tss5078 Paul (Jason Patric) is a mafia hit-man in New Orleans, and with a baby on the way, he wants out. Paul thinks the only way to do that is to kill his boss (Bruce Willis). With a car bomb in place, Paul waits for his boss to leave for the day, but is shocked to see the bosses wife and daughter get into the car instead. After the tragedy, Paul and his family flea and for 18 years, live in peace, but that all changes when his daughter goes down to New Orleans for a weekend getaway and disappears. The dry, emotionless, Jason Patric stars in this film and as it turns out, he's perfect for the role. As The Prince, the heir apparent, Patric has to play both a loving father and a ruthless criminal and does so admirably. While he's listed in the background, he really is the star of the movie, with the other big names making sporadic appearances. It's a shame, because Bruce Willis's boss character seemed to be a really interesting guy, who I'd have loved to see more of and learn more about. The Prince isn't very unique and you can't help but draw parallels to A History of Violence. While not as good, the film still features some intense action and a great story. The one draw back is that the Prince is so focused on this man Paul, and his goals, that they ignore some very compelling side stories. Had I been the writer, I would have utilized flashbacks through out, to show more of the prince and the bosses story, but sadly they didn't. Aside from that I really enjoyed the film, it was a chase, a mystery, and a mafia film rolled into one, with some great cameos, and an unexpected ending. This is the kind of action film I'd love to see more of. It isn't simply about the special effects and the guns, there is a purpose behind all of it, and that makes all the difference.
trwoo I was primarily drawn to this movie because of Jason Patric, whom I really liked in 'Lost Boys'; the film graphic also showed him together with John Cusack and Bruce Willis and the film's premise seemed interesting enough: a father searching for his (grown) lost daughter...but somehow, the finished product just turned out to be a total mess! To be fair, these are all good actors, it's just that they were all saddled with an insipidly stupid and uninspired screenplay...the father character (Patric) is barely likable; the villain of the film is a comic book caricature (Willis); the (Cusack) character seems just plain irrelevant within the whole storyline; and worst of all, the one character who is crucial to the story, the lost daughter, turns out to be hardly likable nor sympathetic. One has to wonder about the individuals who produced this film and who gave the green light to have it released....it's that bad.
