This movie was cute, but I felt like it could've been a little shorter. Other than that, it is like one of my dreams! Wouldn't it just be great to find a random prince, get married, and become rich? Lol. Good movie but I don't know how I'd feel about watching the sequels or any of that.

I often think some people who make hit movies in Hollywood have a revenge plan in mind for their fans who wonder why a sequel or new film hasn't come out in a few years. It always seemed like the Vacation sequel from Matty Simmons (Cousin Eddie's Adventure) was an intentional flop. So, having enjoyed the sincerity of director Martha Coolidge's Valley Girl and Real Genius I feel much money and little effort brought forth this plot by numbers mechanical flop of a romantic comedy. Julia Stiles and the Prince have all the charm of a middle aged couple dating each other from a singles ad and sorting out their mismatch. Stiles just warbles each line sounding old..maybe they just give her too much to say. She monotones each word when she is in Denmark preparing to marry the Prince. Why isn't she more nervous and excited? It's head felt more than heartfelt. Joanie Baron from Valley Girl even shows up in a bit part as an etiquette coach for the Princess. She was the prom chaperone in the earlier film. The formula rehashes much from 2 films I've mentioned. It was either too much drinking or pre-planning (or both) that somehow spoiled this brew.

Pretty Wisconsin college student Julia Stiles (as Paige Morgan) is studying to be a doctor. Meanwhile, the Prince of Denmark, handsome Luke Mably (as Edvard "Eddie" Dangaard), sees a (censored) "Girls Gone Wild" ad on television. Wanting to see college girls flash their breasts, Mr. Mably enrolls in Wisconsin as an exchange student. He decides to keep his princely status a secret. Mably meets Ms. Stiles and asks to see her bosom. She reacts angrily. Mably shows interest in no other women. He helps Stiles interpret Shakespeare and she helps him stay awake in Chemistry. They begin dating. But he is secretly still the Prince of Denmark...**** The Prince & Me (3/28/04) Martha Coolidge ~ Julia Stiles, Luke Mably, Ben Miller, Miranda Richardson

A throwback to old-style Hollywood movies that featured actresses like Loretta Young and actors like Larry Olivier. In fact, I recall just such a film, "The Prince and the Showgirl," with Olivier and Marilyn Monroe. Stiles is a farm girl away at college who meets an exchange student who is actually Denmark's crown prince. Of course, she doesn't find this out until much later. Weak scripting and awkward, improbable situations rely heavily on Stiles' star power. If this had been made 10 or 12 years earlier, her part would have been played by Julia Roberts or Sandra Bullock. A minor trifle at best. Stiles has gone on to bigger and better things, thank God.
