Reviews

lazarillo It would be hypocritical of me to rail against sex films since I've watched (and reviewed) plenty of them. But still I maintain there is a difference between liking a liberal amount of salt on your meal and just eating a big bowl salt. Modern-day sex films, whether they be hardcore or softcore, are like a big bowl of salt--they have a lot of sex in them, but absolutely nothing else of substance or interest. As sex films go this is top drawer. It has very good production values (aside from the atrocious English dubbing, but that wasn't the Italian filmmakers fault). The music especially is excellent--it's interesting and varied and not the usual sub-Kenny G. crap found in sex films. The cinematography is also very good (and it's 35-mm film rather than digital video). The lead Loredana Catanada is absolutely stunning and a truly natural beauty (sans the over-sized silicone tits that come standard with most porn stars today). She was also a good enough actress to eventually break into the mainstream (despite the fact that some of her sex scenes here would technically be considered hardcore). As for the the plot, well, it's serviceable if very generic. Cantanada is the titular (and ass-ular)"she-wolf" who picks up one anonymous man after another, sometimes two at a time. She won't tell them her name or she gives them a fake one. The conflict arises when a naive, directionless college student falls in love with her and tries to get her to change her ways.If you like Tinto Brass films, you will no doubt like this a a lot as director Aurelio Grimaldi is obviously very much in debt to the old master (of bating). But the movie also suffers from the same liabilities as a Brass film. Despite the non-stop sex and Cantanada's gorgeous and perpetually naked body, this movie is actually pretty boring. It looks good, but is also rather dull I'm afraid (OK, there is some comic reliefs involving a bunch of mooks trying to pick up transvesites because they allegedly give better b.j.'s--but what that has to do with anything I don't know). This is about as tasty as a big bowl of salt can be, but it's still a big bowl salt nevertheless.
TdSmth5 I watched a Russian edition of this film with English dubbing but the audio was very poor, so I fast forwarded quite a bit. This review then is not going to be very fair or accurate. Parts of this movie are filmed in somewhat of a documentary style, with the main actress, who is really the center of this movie, addressing the audience and talking about female sexuality and desires. These scenes are filmed in black and white. Also in black and white are erotic scenes that are fantasized by the male lead in which he imagines the girl as a stripper doing it with a panda teddy bear and a real life snake(!). The girl we learn is apparently a prostitute who sleeps with men only once in different locations. The men watch these black and white audition tapes of girls and pick them accordingly. Invariably they fall in love with our star. At some point there are scenes of horny guys getting involved with transvestites for some reason. Loredana Cannata, the main actress, is a beautiful girl, the girl next door type who actually looks sexier when dressed. But we got to see her fully naked quite a bit. Although during a sex scene a body double is used for her. Some seconds of an oral sex scene are explicit, also she touches herself explicitly. But there does not seem to be any development in her story/life. It's more about the filmmakers using her life as a way to get the audience to change their minds about female sexuality perhaps. There is some sort of twist near the end, when the movie becomes a monologue of our star addressing the viewers. The main reason to see this movie is the eroticism and Loredana is sexy but given that the filmmakers tried to get the audience to think, the erotic scenes aren't particularly erotic. The movie is slow going, there aren't any other females in this movie. The only "action" taking place are the different men, and in particular the young lover, looking for the girl. There isn't really much to recommend here, unless you have to see Loredana Cannata naked.
1felco I watched this movie to see if, a part from the real sex, there was another reason to watch it. I am generally well-disposed about sex in the movies, I can understand also Tinto Brass' latest production, but trust me I still couldn't understand what was the goal of director Damiani. Even on DVD edition the poor extras and the nasty monologue of Loredana Cannata didn't help to find out the reasons why this movie was filmed. But I'm ready to listen your opinions in case…**SPOILERS.** Anyway the plot is about a voluptuous woman that jump hungry from a man to another… a student falls in love for her. And that's all! Loredana Cannata act shamelessly in many, not so soft-core scenes, and at least in one of those the sex is real, in fact she give oral sex to Arturo Paglia; but be quiet it is just for 4 seconds like Kerry Fox in 'Intimacy' (2001). It is funny to note that after this movie Loredana did many TV fiction for a family audience, and in Italy she's famous for this reason, if only they could see 'La Donna Lupo'... My vote is 5 (out of 10) just because of the shameless Loredana.
