flyingamon I love fantasy and fairy tales. I don't particularly like Romeo and Julia but I can stomach such a theme if the movie has something more to offer. With a fairy girl falling in love with a leprechaun boy that sounds good. I liked that particular story and the scenes that involved leprechauns and fairies were all nice to watch. The inclusion of humans as sub or main story (not really sure) who also become involved in the war between leprechauns and fairies was a bad idea in my opinion. The human characters were not likable and I couldn't care less about them but since they get involved into the fantasy world you simply cannot ignore them. I would have enjoyed it much more if they just concentrated on the fairies and leprechauns leaving the humans out completely. Second problem is the length. This story could have been easily be told in 2 hours or less. It's a pity as I loved it first time viewing but second time it dragged on and on.
avalonmoon13 Considering this should really be filmed in Ireland, it was a shame to see my local home of Cornwall used for just about every scene!! How they got the surfers out of the water at Watergate Bay, Nr Newquay i will never know!! Shame about some of the special effects this could have been done so much better. Nice story though. Unfortunately, Randy Quaid cannot get away from his character in National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. All I could think about was his RV and dumping the toilet waste down the drains!! Think they needed someone unknown to take the lead role. Very disappointed to see Whoopi Goldberg as the Banshee -stick to wearing a nuns habit please!!!
trickyvixen While I watched this I kept thinking about William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet", which is very similar to this movie right down to the warring families. There are however many differences which make this better than just another adaption to the play. I enjoyed watching this mini series as I love magic and anything to do with it.
Delilah-8 I got this movie for Christmas because I have been wanting it for a while. I saw it on tv I must say, this adventure truly is the type of fantasy I like to see on t.v. I am a strong believer of fairies and this movie really captures the inspiration of them. Although the Grand Banshee really had no characteristics of the true legendary Banshee, the rest had more truth in the movie to reality. I have done a lot of research and I did, in fact, find that some parts of the movie did not match the criteria of fairies. I will, however, say that most of the movie did live up to the expectations of fairieland according to humans. I could tell that the makers of the film really knew how to portray fairieland, due to research, for sure. Although, I'm sure only people like me would know what I am talking about. To sum it all up, this fairie adventure with a Shakesphere twist can really capture the hearts of believers or non-believers everywhere. I give it a 10 all the way!
