Synopsis

The Legend of the Psychotic Forest Ranger is a B horror movie straight out of the 80s. After taking a wrong turn down an abandoned road, the Jock, the Joker, the Blond Bimbo & the Paranoid Brunette run out of gas and find themselves stranded in the middle of the woods. What a total drag. What was that noise? Why is everyone vanishing? Is it all one of Bradley's dumb practical jokes, or could The Legend be true? Your compass can't help you in these woods.

TheBlueHairedLawyer I love slasher films (My favorite is the 1981 My Bloody Valentine, also filmed on Cape Breton Island), and I love films made in Cape Breton because I used to live there before the Canadian economy got bad. When I saw the trailer for Psychotic Forest Ranger, I couldn't wait to see it.Don't go into this one expecting some kind of cinematic masterpiece, because its campy acting, corny dialogue and cheap gore effects are on purpose, a homage to all those classic 70's and 80's slashers and to a sadly bygone era of funny horror films. From the bright-colored clothing and retro music, to the grainy faded film look, Psychotic Forest Ranger might as well have stepped out of the 20th century. The scenery and acting was great, and this film has a brilliantly-talented cast and crew who really know how to build up a hilarious story. If you're a fan of horror films but you're sick of all the modern garbage like the multiple Paranormal Activity remakes, then you'll definitely want to watch this one.
patl1973 I really wanted to like this so much. The poster was great, the trailer was great, the theme song was great, I met the director and he was super nice and cool. I really, really wanted to like this so much but it was horrible. Love '80s horror and am very cool with those that want to recapture that era. But sadly, most just miss the root of what made it great, and this is one of them.To get tot he point, this film has a collection of bad actors trying hard to camp it up and be bad actors. So the film is like watching a nerd snarf milk out of his nose endlessly. The magic of crap '80s cinema is that the actors were genuinely not great, but that's why these films are awesome. When you have bad actors trying to camp it up and be bad actors it's totally lost. Brad's a good guy and will definitely check out his next flick. His heart is in the right place but the direction on this is sadly, off.
Fran Cantwell Don't think there will be a spoiler, but I checked the box jut in case. This movie was fun with the acting way over the top, as it was supposed to be. The violence was bloody and there was lots of gore. It brought back memories of going to the drive-in during the 80s. We had a wonderful time seeing this movie twice during its limited run. Watching the backstory unfold, knowing the Ranger was going to show up any minute, with his maniacal laugh, made the movie. We are hoping there will be a part 2, but at least this one is now available to purchase. And remember the Psychotic Forest Ranger, "just wants to axe you a few questions." Hahahahahaha The Psychotic Forest Ranger(Michael G. MacDonald) showed up at the theatre to sign autographs and have pictures taken...Awesome!! We loved it. Thanks to the writers, actors and crew. Great job all.
Felix Pottie Legend of the Psychotic Forest Ranger (LOTPFR) follows a group of teens as they take a weekend trip. Unfortunately for them, the car breaks down in the middle of a deserted forest road. With no means of communication and no traffic in sight, they're forced to continue their journey on foot. I marked this as potential for spoilers but I'll let the audience see the rest of the story unfold for themself.Like every 80's horror flick, this movie contains a lot of sexual inuendo, bad language, a lot of drinking, scenes of violence and gore, and much much more. But I won't get into any more of the story for this review.I know, I know... I sound like a parental warning sticker, but this is not the case at all. These are all the elements that make Psychotic Forest Ranger such a cool film. It totally plays like an 80's B horror movie, with all the gags, jokes, bad acting, the comedic nature of certain 'Kills'. The costumes and makeup even resemble the 80's lower budget horror films. Fortunately, this was all intended by the writers and the crew, as it clearly shows within the film. But this is only the beginning. With a creepy soundtrack, a cool stylized intro montage, and filmed to resemble the old equipment (I'm not even sure if they used 80's type cameras), this film is a ride and feels like it was worth much more than the budget spent.Anyone who was a fan of cult classics (Evil Dead, Sleepaway Camp, Psycho Cop, etc.) should feel a certain sense of Nostalgia with this film. I feel like a kid, waiting for the VHS release of Evil Dead 2. Although nothing today would support the old formats, I'll settle for DVD or Blu-Ray (Whenever I can afford a Blu-Ray player).A must have for any 80's horror freak!
