There I was, a guy about to enter adulthood, and on the verge of questioning everything about the human society - from religion to politics. And that was the time when I saw this epic, and it changed my life and built my character. Do yourself a favor and watch it with an open mind. This movie should be experienced by everyone. If you are not an Indian, watch it to know a revolutionary who is in the same league as Lenin or Che Guevara. If you are an Indian, please show this to future generations. At present times, when men of character have become scarce, this can be a beacon of hope. This is not a movie, it is a lesson in history, sociology, revolution, and justice. Very few movies touch all subjects such a religion, socialism, justice, revolution, human emotions like this one. The characters give the same soul moving experience that few movies like "Schindler's List" and "The man from Earth" were able to achieve (for me). This is a truly intelligent cinema far away from the singing dancing image of Bollywood. Rajkumar Santoshi deserves a standing applause for an honest depiction of the revolutionary, and deserves better recognition. Ajay Devgn is almost an incarnation of the Legend of Bhagat Singh, and has arguably given his best performance. If this was not history, it would be tough to believe that Bhagat Singh achieved so much in so little time and young age. His autobiography "Why I am an atheist" proves that this movie has depicted him in true light. Men like Bhagat Singh come once in a millennium. The movie shows Bhagat Singh as a young child who witnesses atrocities and starts questing every aspect and practice in Indian society. This leads him to compare and question methods of leaders of that time. Bhagat Singh grew up in a time when men truly had character - the type of character that builds nations from ground up. His methods are truly ingenious and one is left to ponder how such a young mind could devise such ingenious instruments of revolution. The movie also urges the audience to think for themselves, and poses questions that lead you to evaluate present day Indian society. One cannot help but ponder how Indian society would have turned up if Bhagat Singh had lived longer.SPOILER: In the end, the movie leaves the audience with a rhetoric "Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru were only 23 when they were hanged. They gave up their lives for the dream of a free, and secular India. But today Indian society is ravaged by evils of Fundamentalism, Communal hatred, social injustice and corruptionHave we betrayed their sacrifices?"

Stunning, absolutely stunning. Whenever one witnesses a film like 'Legend of Bhagat Singh', one can only just stare and mentally get back to the earlier days. It's hard to find a single flaw throughout the film as the whole cast and crew join hands to give a stunning presentation of the events that took place in 1928 British-India. Ajay Devgan is absolutely brilliant, he gives a performance of a lifetime! Devgan effortlessly gets in the shoes of the legendary patriotic hero and takes us on a ride through history. An excellent performance from almost the whole cast and above all Sushant Singh who gives his very best as 'Sukhdev'. Top notch performances along with a beautiful score is not all you will get, there is much more here that makes the film much more than just a biographical epic.In the list of top Biography epics like 'Joan of Arc - The Messenger', 'Queen Margot' and many more, 'The Legend of Bhagat Singh' definitely hits the list as well. It's a true masterpiece.

The legacy of Bhagat Singh told in a fine way, the movie is a benchmark, its very very different from the normal stereotype movies, which goes ga ga on Ghandhi and depicts That the Freedom struggle and the independence movement has everything to do with Gandhi alone. The movie shows the love for the country by this youth, who quits Education, family, relationships, marriage, money, fame & kisses death @ the age of 23 & shows Ghandhi in true colors, a well established leader who has great powers & influence, but who fails to save the 3 youths Bagat, Rajguru and Sukhdev for his political gains and ideologies The movie starts with child Bhagat, who witnesses the autocrats of Britishers.. he grows up in the patriotic atmosphere as his parents and uncle take part in active freedom struggles, As a Kid, Bhagat is a great follower of Ghandi, his principals and follows him.@ the age of 12 he witnesses the Jalianwala Bagh massacre & gets highly disturbed by it The movie than switches to a young Bhagat(Ajay) in college silent yet furious in thoughts ..he joins the HRA(later known as Hindustan Socialist Republican Association) He quits Religion, adapts Atheism & communism ideologies, Walks away from home as his father arrange marriage for him.. with the death of the top leaders of HRA, he jumps in to action and takes the party forward, For taking revenge of Lala Lajpat Rai's death he and other revolutionaries plot Saunders murder and execute it, he becomes wanted by British govt @ that time he throws bomb in the assembly, surrenders to police, so that he could make his voice reach to the general public via the prosecution process He is successful in it, the people start hearing to the views of the young and vibrant Bhagat Singh, whose demands and ideas are way ahead of Ghandi, when its about the people farmers, workers, traders, poor etc & The demand for total Independence above everything the current Indian leader Ghandi is forced to demand what Bhagat has demanded to sustain his image This is the historical movement, where Bhagat's popularity is parallel to that of Ghandhi if not above him. He becomes a threat to the British Govt He and his friends are executed on March 23, 1931, Bhagat Singh(23) Shivaram Rajguru(22), Sukhdev(23)These freedom fighters were forgotten by the main stream politicians(Ghandhi-Nehru)It is pity on our government who has tried to hide the reality from the generations after Independence. They have made our great heroes terrorists in School books so that coming generations should not have much interest in reading about them. His History in written in his own blood, a story of struggle, friendship, & One of the biggest betrayal by Ghandhi towards him and Indians

Men come & Men go but some people do really make an impact & Bhagat Singh is one of them.Rajkumar Santoshi has really portrayed this character to the BEST.The likes of this movie can only be compared to "Brave Heart". History is written by those who dominated it. That's why we've got to know the greatness of Bhagat Singh so late.A Must watch for of all those who love their motherland on how our Heroes have laid down their lives for our freedom. Every moment of pain they went through, every drop of blood they have shed has been well shown. Rahman's background score & music ROCKS.It will really put you down to tears by the end of the Movie. Thanks to Raj Kumar Santoshi for such an excellent master piece portrayal of Bhagat Singh.
