Reviews

Leofwine_draca A fairly ordinary black and white adventure film courtesy of the Children's Film Foundation stable. As with some others I've seen from this era, THE KID FROM CANADA takes a well-known personality - in this case, Canadian TV presenter Bernard Braden - and casts him in support with his real-life kid receiving top billing. In this case, Christopher Braden is the titular character, sent on holiday to Scotland to meet and make friends with his extended family. What follows is a story which is predictable in the extreme, although still of interest for fans of the era. The problem I had with it is that Braden plays such an arrogant little character that I virtually hated him throughout, and the other sullen kids in this story don't do much better. The adventure parts of the story come later on and are quite well handled, although not as exciting as seen in other CFF outings. The beautiful scenery and the horses were my favourite part of this one.
