a group of crooked cops decide to avenge the murder of one of their own by killing the gangsters responsible. when they go to the gang's hideout however, they are quickly overcome by the men they came to kill. before the cops can be killed, a zombie outbreak in the city reaches the building they are in, and both groups are forced to work together to survive and escape. The Horde is a french movie with subtitles, which i thought would put me off at first, but i,m glad i stuck with it as i really enjoyed it. the zombies are fast moving and vicious, and the action is fast and furious with the movie moving at a quick pace. gorehounds will be happy too because their is blood, and plenty of it.it's a shame that the zombie outbreak is never really explained, but that's a minor quibble considering the rest of the movie should satisfy any zombie fan

The Horde plays as an action movie, and it's not a bad one. Dahan and Rocher make their run-down setting an integral part of the action; it dictates what the cops and crooks can do without ever feeling arbitrary. The balance of power shifts often enough to keep the audience guessing a little. Both shootouts and hand-to-hand combat are well-choreographed and bloody, which is actually pretty impressive - there really aren't that many zombie movies that make a fight between the living and the undead work, especially when the protagonists don't have much in the way of firearms and large blades at their disposal (it helps that the infected in this movie are on the fast side).Prostheses and gore are pretty good, although the lighting sometimes hides just how good. Some of the digital effects aren't quite as good as they could be, perhaps - though the movie is mostly practical effects, there's always something not quite right about the smoke in the background.7/10

The director had a small extra role in Frontière(s) (2007), an ultra gory flick coming from France. Here he is the director and he surely has seen how to make a gory flick due Frontière(s). In fact, La Horde is a brutal flick that turns quickly into a gory messy zombieflick. But I only had one complain, French flicks are know for having a lot of talking in it. And here we have that to, we do go deeply into the characters but once they meet the old man they go into a conversation that takes a bit too long. Nevertheless, still it do is gory and also has a bit of funny situations like the last man standing on top of a car. Second disappointment, the use of CGI. I can understand that it's low budget but zombie flicks really need the real jelly, latex, syrup stuff. But the excellent acting made it a rather enjoyable flick. But if you are looking for a brutal gore flick then you are on the right address, for me it even has an open ending...Be warned, the zombies are running so don't expect to have Romero zombies!Gore 3/5 Nudity 0/5 Effects 3/5 Story 3/5 Comedy 0,5/5

When a group of corrupt Parisian cops seek revenge on a Nigerian mafia circle, for the murder of one of their friends, things go wrong for them when they find themselves on the wrong end of the ambush. Trapped in a condemned block of flats, life for the cops couldn't be worse. Well, at least they thought so. That was before they realised that the outside world has transformed into bloodthirsty Zombies!!! With little to no hope of survival on their own, the cops and mafia do the unthinkable. Join forces, in order to repel the horde of Zombies, in an effort to get out of there alive. If you want a Horror film that will make you think and poses a strong message, I would say forget about seeing this one. If you want a film that doesn't hold back on excessive violence at nearly every breath, then this is the best ticket in town. I would compare this to more of a video game. In that you get very limited character background, and it just goes headlong into a craze of violence and action, before you can blink an eye. Let me tell you one thing. The action in this film, will please any fan of Action. The horror element, obviously, is strong, but at no stage will you be scared. The Zombies in this film cop one hell of a beating, and you may even find yourself feeling sorry for the Zombies! I know, crazy right? Well that's the kind of film this is. Just balls to the wall action from start to finish. By the time the film reaches its conclusion, you will be thinking "I need to catch my breath" before popping it back into the DVD player for a repeat viewing! Fantastic fun! Like it should be!
