Highwaymen Live!!! (1990) **** (out of 4)Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson and Willie Nelson teamed up as The Highwaymen and this complete concert was recorded at the Nassau Coliseum in 1990. This originally aired as a hour special on PBS but it has since been released in its uncut form, which obviously has a lot more songs and it's the version you'll want to go with. The concert starts off with their hit Highwayman and then moves onto such classics as Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys, Trouble Man, Folsom Prison Blues, Ring of Fire, Always on My Mind, Sunday Morning Coming Down, Ragged Old Flag, Me and Bobby McGee, Big River, A Boy Named Sue and several others. You get to see the four legends performing together, by themselves and various other forms. If you're a fan of The Highwaymen then there's no doubt that you're going to want to check this out. Simply put, these were some very special shows and it's great that this here is available for people to see and especially a younger generation who doesn't have this type of music around any more. All four men are in very good form, their voices strong and the band is wonderful as well. There were many great songs played by the duet on Sunday Morning Coming Down by Cash and Kristofferson was priceless.

The Highwaymen were a country "supergroup" 1985-95, consisting of Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Kris Kristoffersen. This DVD records their concert in Long Island Nassau Coliseum 1990, and it does so in a concentrated way: cameras look at the stage from beginning to end, no takes of the building from outside or even the audience, which would give it some more documentary interest.Anyway, in 83 minutes you get 25 country songs, including many classics, and with the added surprise that several are performed by the complete foursome (e.g. Help Me Make It Through The Night, Big River); 13 pieces are solos by just one of the four.Being a fan of classic country music, I enjoyed the show very much.
