An Army veteran assembles a team of bodyguards to protect a former boxer. Complications arise when the boxer suspects his sister may be romantically involved with the bodyguard. You've pretty much know what to expect and you've seen this type of plot in other movies over the years for sure but 'The Hard Corps' is a fun and watchable action flick with Jean Claude Van Damme as an Ex-Soldier who fights his own personal demons but also tries to protect this boxer and his family. The action was also pretty good and the acting not bad either. (7.4/10)

this is one of the better Jean Claude Van Damme movies i have seen in a long while.the story is actually pretty good.the acting is decent.the characters have some depth to them.Van Damme actually misplays some emotional range.this isn't your typical Van Damme action flick.Vivica A. Fox add some class(not to mention beauty and talent)to the proceedings.and the supporting players are all also very good here.after having just watched Derailed(another Van Damme Movie)which stunk to high heaven,i was pleasantly surprised at how good it really is.this is one movie i would definitely recommend watching.like me,i'm betting you just might be pleasantly surprised.for me,The Hard Corps is an 8/10

Jean-Claude Van DAMME stars as Phillippe Sauvage, a former soldier in Iraq, recovering from a traumatic experience regarding the massacre of children in a school, hired by a famous former boxing legend's sister to protect her brother from potential attacks orchestrated by a rap music mogul he put in prison, Terrell Singletary(Viv Leacock). Razaaq Adoti is Wayne Barclay, the boxer who, upon retirement, become a successful businessman, lending a helping hand to his impoverished, and crime-ridden community. Vivica A. Fox is Barclay's overprotective, savvy, and efficient sister, Tamara, who provides him with the services he needs to conduct his business ventures.Sauvage was recruited by Clarence Bowden(Julian Christopher), for whom he served under in Kandahar. When Bowden is killed while protecting Barclay from a drive-by shootout, Sauvage will become his head bodyguard, assembling a corps to help keep him safe. That will not be easy considering Terrell's relentless desire to get even with Barclay for assisting in putting him behind bars. The whole feud started over a fight Barclay wouldn't lose in order for Terrell to benefit. Terrell got revenge by sending goons to shoot Barclay's younger brother. The film establishes exactly what happened that day when the children were killed and we see the friction that exists between Sauvage and Barclay. And, Tamara and Sauvage might possibly develop a relationship which doesn't bode well for Barclay either.Pretty much consists of Sauvage keeping Barclay safe, not an easy task considering how stubborn the boxer is about restrictions in where he can and can not go. The plot's villains are gangstas with guns so there's plenty of shootouts, but Van DAMME doesn't have very many individual fight sequences..although he does have an entertaining skirmish with Barclay after Sauvage has simply had enough. Very independent minded, Barclay likes to conduct his business, unafraid of Terrell, even risking his well being to spend some time with a girl he is seeing. The Hard Corps just didn't have enough action or very interesting villains to root against for this genre fan.

The Hard Corps is probably the most boring movie I've ever heard of. You're looking at the movie and saying, hey, this sounds like it's going to be descent. Jean Claude Van Damme, guns, kicks, muscles, all that good stuff. But no, this is garbage. And you're thinking, well, it's a new age movie he played in, give him some slack. But no, it sucks. It sucks dirt from a straw. You want to know why, well, where can I begin? First of a all, the name. The Hard Corps? That is the stupidest name that you could ever come up with! The Hard Corps?! I'm sorry, The Hard Corps?! Okay, now the fight scenes are basically the same as every movie that Van Damme has been doing in the 90's. Brawling, no kicking. Guns, but no originality. That's basically the outline of the whole film. And having Vivica A. Fox in a movie doesn't save it from being the worst direct-to-DVD films of all times. Therefore, The Hard Corps is bad and not worth watching. 3 of out 10.
