Dellray Rotar I am always on the lookout for the next sci-fi indie flick with promise. And believe me, I have sat through a lot of dredge. The story was quite interesting and surprisingly well acted for a low budget film. I particularly enjoyed the contrast of the Matt's. The film didn't seem to have any dead time and even though the story was fairly straight forward, there were a few small surprises peppered in here and there. It suspended my disbelief, didn't rely on forcing an R rating to get people to watch it, told an interesting story full of emotion that was believable and left the door open for a sequel which I really hope they make. A solid 8 out of 10 for those who like indie sci-fi.
darrelramos If you love a science movie that is rich in plot twists, science larger than life, a little mix of melodrama and action, and a happy ending (without that surprise ending), then this movie is a perfect for you. It is like Back to the Future sequels but less of the comedy part and more of the flux capacitor running on garbage. If you are those people who wants a science movie that is somewhat realistic in story and visuals/cinematography, and a movie that will provoke you to think the "what if's", "purpose" and "meaning", then this movie will look like an ordinary TV show to you.I give it an 8 because of the good storyline and I find it enjoyable. In fact, I will watch its sequel if they will make another one.
sanfranman1111 Most low budget SF movies I watch are not good, but this is an exception, I was impressed with this film. The lead actress who plays Jane gives an excellent performance as does the bad guy. the parallel world stuff is good too, bit like counterpart. overall thought provoking and worth a watch
The Couchpotatoes I would score The Gateway a six if it had had a bigger budget but since it is a low budget movie it deserves a seven. The story is well thought of and interesting to watch. There were never dull moments at any point. Almost no special effects in this sci-fi movie, and that's due to the small budget, but still good enough to watch because the story of the parallel universes was an interesting concept. The acting though was not the greatest, not terrible neither, but certainly not award winning. This movie just gets it from it's story and not from the acting. I could see the same movie with a higher budget and better actors doing very well. But for an Australian indie movie it was not bad at all.
