An understated element of horror that is primarily in the more powerful realm of psychology rather than physical violence, combined with a thoughtful and clever story involving the paranormal. To me, this makes more prominent makers of horror-paranormal themed films like Stephen King look like rank amateurs. As others have commented, the director also did an awesome job of making a film on a shoestring that has a whole lot of the polish of a big budget blockbuster.

In no way, shape, or form do I want to take away from Ink (this thought alone has prevented me from writing this review for 4 days). Ink changed my life. It was a perfect blend of originality, consciousness, and movie-making that will likely never be duplicated. Didn't expect that level to be showcased again in The Frame, but I was expecting more. The Frame was slow, confusing, and just plain laborious without a payoff. I wanted to love this movie - and that's the reason for my rating, because I was so disappointed. I'll chalk it up to artist interpretation and not everyone liking the same thing. I'm ok with that. It actually makes me love Ink that much more because it was obviously a special place in time where literally everything came together. Fingers are crossed for the next project...because anyone who had any involvement with Ink deserves to have their art watched. Without hesitation.

well choose leads,a mix of fantasy ,drama and action, not an Hollywood mold, entertaining,It does have a longer ending that possibly would have benefit with a shorter time but maybe it is better that way too. its easy to criticize the choices of a director instead to just been thankful for a truly amazing project. I hope is next film is as the same caliber and original as this and Ink.

After watching Spin and Ink yesterday I have decided to go on with Winans and just finished this now. I felt it slow toward the end, but nevertheless never boring, at all. The opposite. Once again a unique, fascinating creation. There is that mysterious feeling of watching the reality being dissected, as I had it for the first time with Matrix (then Truman Show, 13th Floor, Existenz, and Stranger Than Fiction). And once again, like in Ink, I feel a kind of depth which goes behind the intellectual virtuosity of the Wachowsky, behind sci-fi, behind experimental cinema. I cannot describe it. Probably I am not supposed to. I just want to pay respect with this review.
