Good take on the 'dim wits try crime' genre. Maybe a bit Kiwi-centric for some but a good story line makes up for some of the constraints of a shoestring budget. Took it as I saw it and enjoyed it. Uses the classic start at the end of the story opening scene then the story swings back to the sequence of events that build the story. Ticks along quite nicely without really having any dull bits. Range of acting abilities, especially in the female roles, and some of the low budget aspects of the movie grate a bit but don't detract too much from the flow of the story. I think it's worth a look, even if it's just to see what can be done in a movie without a lot of coin; at the end of the day the makers probably would have made a profit if they'd played out the story in real life. Film in NZ shouldn't all be about short guys with hairy feet, Polynesian weddings and what's at the back of the wardrobe.
