To me, this is the most perfect horror movie out there. The plot and story is very compelling and it gives a very solid background as to WHY "the crazies" exist. Also, the movie presents you with a moral dilemma about loved ones going "crazy." This movie really makes you think. Regarding the story, I was very impressed with how cohesively it all came together, and at how impressive it was. You rarely see that in horror movies.Delivery of the story = amazingBUT the sheer scares and terror of this movie is what makes it FUN. There are "creepy" scares, "jump" scares, "gory" scares, "psychological" scares, you name it! The movie is so diverse in its execution that you get a mix of everything. If you're a horror fan (and even if you're not) you will appreciate this movie. It is a movie delivered with much more than just scares, but the scares are the icing on the cake! My girlfriend got very creeped out by some of the "emotional" scares, the ones that involve a loved one doing bad things. 10/10 because it's not only a great horror movie, it's a great movie in general because it doesn't rely on being scary!

I like almost every movie where the main theme is an apocalypse, a deserted town, zombie infection or some kind of a virus. This film falls into that category very nicely since I liked it from the beginning all the way to the end, without saying something trashy about some of the scenes or a decision that was made from the main characters. The infected, not zombies in this case, were very very carefully designed and made to look pretty awesome, they looked scary and evil, but pretty original that depicted them from other movies with similar ideas. The acting crew was well chosen, with Radha Mitchell who is already a well known horror acting person, especially from Silent Hill. The story progressed well, altho I would've liked to see a more explained ending. All in all, a good horror/thriller movie, with great visual effects and great acting, decent enough story and average decision making, because there were some moments were the obvious has been said and has happened.

A world where 2011's The Thing reboot exists is arguably a worse world than one where its titular monster is real and eating us all. Old film franchises brought back from the dead to make a quick buck almost never end well. To this day the only one that lived up to its original glory was Mad Max Fury Road.
The Crazies' 37 year revival wasn't as amazing as Mad Max Fury Road, but at least it wasn't The Thing, or Terminator Genysis; and this is partially because Romero was actually involved in its creation. Sure he wasn't a director, but since most horror remakes are done without any real talk with the original director, it's a blessing here. The film concept isn't quite a zombie concept, but the film sure as hell acts like one. Its score is decent, cinematography is nice, the acting and script are well done even if they take a bit of liberties with reality.
Overall it's a nice film to see.

When residents of a small-town begin attacking each other, the survivors are lead away from the area, but when they learn of others still trapped in the town they head back to rescue them before they fall victim to the bloodthirsty creatures. This was a hard one to get a handle on as there's stuff to love and dislike here. Some of the stuff works, from the build-up in the beginning with the family being stalked in the house before it being set on fire to the gory ambush in the morgue, there's some nice action scenes early on that create a pretty creepy air especially when combined with the investigation angle. The assault on the camp as well as the action in the burned-out ruins of the town are rather nice and certainly big, fun action scenes that provide some nice blood and gore, and it gets a lot of fun out of an abbreviated ambush in a car-wash and a truck- stop encounter, but the fact remains that there's a lot of problems here. The biggest flaw is that the middle segments, after a strong opening, just drain the energy from the film as it continually repeats the tender family relationship that never once feels threatened or in danger, despite attempts to force the issue but it knowingly won't and just renders the whole thing pointless. Also, by dropping the number of encounters down it leaves the relentless pacing of the first half incredibly slowed down and dull afterward, drawing out the film a little too long in this section. Another big serious flaw is the complete and total lack of explanations for the toxin dropped in the town, which is a real mystery on all fronts in how it works, its' purpose and wherever the toxin came from. This is a major flaw which really hampers the film along with its other flaws as otherwise, this is a decent effort.Rated R: Graphic Violence, Graphic Language and children-in-jeopardy.
