Peggy Blackwell I love watching a true story as there isn't always a storybook ending. This movie has true suspense and shows inter-personal relationships as well as delves into the struggle of a person's crisis of faith in a world of evil. Since I had never heard of the situation, I had no idea what would transpire. The movie was interesting all the way through and had surprising aspects to it. It makes a person have to consider what the captives stated happened. I think this is a good movie for all except young children due to the subject matter. It had no cussing nor sexuality which was nice in a world of movies filled with both.
joestealth I find the reviews of this movie by those critical of the story to be offensive to the people that lived this. You may question the facts or production value or casting or performances all you want. The story stands as it is told. Each person experiences life and the events that constitute it through their own beliefs and opinions. Your need to invalidate a group of people telling their story is simply invalidating your own ability to empathize...and in purely scientific terms; the lack of empathy is generally associated with serial killers. Are you sure that's the bracket you choose to place yourselves in? Your lack of belief is no more valid than their belief.
steve-49588 This movie is Mormon propaganda. Mormons are of course, cultists. They are a Christian cult having some semblance of Christianity but veering far from the path that leads to Truth. Their false prophet, Joseph Smith, was demonically tricked into thinking he was a real prophet in the 19th century and it all went downhill from there to give us the warped false teaching that Mormonism is today. That being said, could there be true miracles in this situation the movie was based on? Well, for one, the Bible says Satan can do miracles. So if Satan wanted to lead people from the Truth of Christianity, and towards the false religion of Mormonism, why wouldn't he do some miracles to get people to go down the wrong path and end up in hell, just as is his plan? Think about it!
HoosierBob This film is based on an actual event which was covered by national media as it was playing out. People do not need to be religious to see this film, but it is a very compelling story about a disgruntled high IQ guy assisted by his gullible, lower mentality,esteem-less girlfriend. The man has a long planned scheme to force ransom money from the nation, with fragile hostages in mind. The actors were believable and the film was made on location where the event occurred, and while the event happened maybe a decade ago, the event might have happened just yesterday. An absolute feel good movie.
