Synopsis

When a serial killer mysteriously and savagely murders a young native woman in rural Los Angeles County, her sister McKenna must replace her as the keeper of an amulet, the sacred crescent. Reluctantly, McKenna accepts the role of chosen one. With the amulet and after the rigors of the ritual, she takes on the spirit and powers of the raven, the good forces in the battle against evil, the wolf. McKenna's powers include a thirst for milk and great sexual energy, which she unleashes on her former boyfriend, Henry, a cop. The spirit of the wolf inhabits Rose, Henry's jilted lover. Rose wreaks havoc of her own before a final showdown with the chosen one.

Leofwine_draca THE CHOSEN ONE: LEGEND OF THE RAVEN is a straight-to-video independent film that reaches new lows in terms of amateurish behaviour. The story is about some kind of Native American legend that sees a mysterious figure, the Raven, brought to Earth to right wrongs and punish misdeeds. Said Raven comes in the form of the shapely Carmen Electra, she of the voluptuous figure and no discernible acting ability. This is truly pitiful stuff with barely any kind of a story to drive it forward. The acting is really, really bad, with Electra particularly awful. Wait until you see some of the superhero costumes she wears. The rest of the cast make no impact whatsoever, and the film just sort of ambles along, throwing in regular sex sessions in which Electra's body double gets a regular workout. It's cheap, nasty, boring, and an obvious gender-twist rip-off of THE CROW. Avoid like the plague.
gridoon Great DVD cover marketing here, guys! Raven=Crow, therefore this is the successor to Brandon Lee's "The Crow"! Em, no. Actually, reading the plot synopsis and looking at the photos I expected something along the lines of "Barb Wire", but no, it's not that either. The story is silly and pretentious (shut your mouth, wise old Indian narrator!), and the action scenes (the whole two of them) are poor, with mistimed sound effects. Carmen Electra is a hot woman, no doubt about that, but it's painful to watch her trying to act, though not as painful as it is to watch her male co-stars! (and yes, anyone with an IQ higher than that of the characters can see that she used a body double for the nude scenes). At least Debra Xavier has some fun with her role as the wicked bad girl. At one point, Carmen's boyfriend tells her "I can help you" and she responds "You ain't tough enough, baby". THAT'S the attitude this film needed to have all the way. (*)
teri70 I can't say that I liked this movie, I didn't even understand it! It was the worst movie I've ever seen. Besides the obvious lack of thought in casting (the sister, supposedly a Native American, is a blond-haired, blue-eyed chick), severe lack of acting ability, and the schroom-induced thing that was supposed to be a plot, the thing still didn't muster enough camp to be even funny. Oh, can't finish without mentioning the costumes, what was that about? It looked like they raided a closet full of '80's clothes that people in the '80's wouldn't even wear. Even if you are IN LOVE with Carmen, it won't make you like this.
Michael Pilkington First, I just want to say that Carmen Electra is very beautiful (in or out of costume), but her acting talents are wasted in this long and boring Troma flick. Did she really give up TV's Baywatch for this crap? There's really no action until the last ten minutes of the film, but by then you may have bailed out. If you're interested, there's at least five sex scenes -- three of them with Ms. Electra. If you really want to see Carmen Electra naked, check out some web sites or buy a pin-up poster. Enough said. My evaluation: (no stars).
